while the effects are nice, the creature itself looks p. weird being so bulky on the neck and having a small butt

also line mouth is lazy, do something about it

Fixed the eye as well, didn't like the unfocused look. He looks kind of like an old bestiary drawing now, which is cool in my book.

Dwartle too! Not sure about the crystals.

Just a retrospective...

Not sure what I should do about that, I picked the color restrictions and I'm sticking with them.

One issue I see throughout most of your sprites is that you don't try to develop the skin, most of your sprites have this "I'm a plastic toy" feel to it. Now, I understand that most pokemon also have this going for them, but you have the benefit of a larger resolution, so you can play around with it.

For Dwartle, as an example, there's plenty of room to develop the cane, the belly (there's a noticeable difference in detail between both versions), and the back is really lacking in detail and shading. What kind of animal is this? Would it have scales, or fur? (or possibly a third option?) There are subtle, but distinct ways to distinguish this sort of feature. If it had scales, try adding some texture to the skin. If it has fur, show tufts of hair where you think it would be appropriate. You might also want to play around with your palette and hue shift more to get more out of it.

THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU x0. I think that's what's been missing from my Hieros Gamos stuff.

I used one of Fool's lizard warriors as a reference. Dwartle is a tortoise, so he has scales. They look more like a frog's warts right now, though.

Not sure which version I should use. The one with less contrast or more contrast?

Also, should I try adding texture to Salamendra?

Try and get a result between both Dwartles. It's looking far better!

As for Salamendra, I'd add some ember texturing, especially round the cracks of the feet.

It looks a lot more interesting! Personally, I'd go with the second palette, due to how the colors blend nicely. The contrast in the first one is *really* strong on my monitor.

I've always struggled with Danubine's upper body (human anatomy grr) but I'm pretty satisfied with that this time. My main issue now is how to detail the waves with so few colors.

that's pretty nice, also organs

just take care with the arms: her left forearm is making a barrel shape like this ( ) and they aren't like that. Try making it thinner at it gets to the pulse.

also see where her butt would be. The outline isn't connecting with the human body part due to the fins being in front of them. Fix that by making that a continuous line, even with the fin in front of it. The top of her head looks kinda flat too, and the wave's crest could be foamy (but I believe you're going to ge there eventually)

also Salamendra looks better now

These are 2 sprites I made from the male trainer in pokeon White.

Make your own thread for your sprites. No threadbombing, please.

masquerain, i have an issue with understanding danubine's volume, especially the wave. I think its shape could be changed. Adding a lighter shade in the hair could make it seem less flat, too.

Chris, what shape did you have in mind for the wave? I'm not sure what you meant but I messed around with the shading a bit and took Gors' critique.

as a note, the flat head is because I ran out of space for the hair.

Sylphen's always been one I've had trouble with. The "plastic toy" look was intentional here but I'm still struggling with what to do with him...
