last week i watched:
Donnie Darko - Interesting and the soundtrack is excellent Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind - Rewatching one of my favourite Ghibli films. Alongside Laputa: Castle in the Sky, it's one of the less famous but excellent films by miyazaki. Heathers - Really funny dark high-school movie Pump up the Volume - Christian Slater playing a toned down version of his character from heathers in another funny high-school movie Trainspotting - Fucking excellent. I have the same pillowcase as Renton. Stranger than Paradise - Interesting film. Didn't find it as funny as other Jarmusch films but there were instances and the photography was great. Screaming Jay Hawkins is always appreciated. Magnetic Rose - A short film from Memories by Katsuhiro Otomo. This one's not directed by Otomo but the story is his and it is a really great sci-fi thriller. I'm really hyped for Otomo at the moment 'cause i just finished reading AKIRA. saw star trek: into darkness a few days ago
strong points: -Nice attention to character drama -Super smooth space action (CGI effects done right!) -There are loads of modern blockbuster cliches that annoy me, but ST:ID pulled them off in ways where I didn't mind them. Other than that, I caught a showing of Battle Royale last week. and it was the best thing I've seen in months.

Yesterday I watched the GTO movie (1999), which wasn't too bad - Onizuka was well played despite not having blonde hair. Tonight, I watched Basket Case. It was a stupid horror film. I watched the final part of Memories, Cannon Fodder, which was directed by Otomo himself but i didn't like it that much. I think it was mainly the style that i didn't like so much and the narrative wasn't particularly interesting. excellent animation sure, but there was too much style and not enough substance. I'll check out the middle one sometime soon though. Yeah, i started watching Neo Tokyo! it was on the related videos when i was watching Memories so i gave it a look. I've only watched the first short so far, the one with the girl and her cat, i had work to do so i stopped it there. The setting really reminded me of Tim Burton's stuff, the dark and the pale and all that. As with Memories, i'll find some time to watch the rest. I noticed the title of the next short is The Running Man and i'm hoping that it's similar to the running man with Arnold Schwarzenegger 'cause that film was great

I just did one of my monthly trilogy nights with a few friends
we watched star wars 4 5 6 while doing some related drinking games was great fun and i had totally forgotten how awesome star wars is
So I saw three movies today.
Paprika--A lot of fun to watch! The conflict resolution to me is a little meh, but it's the first time in a while I've been wowed by the visuals. If you like great animation and the concept of dreams, this'll definitely be fun. Everything is done so seamlessly and the dream sequences really feel ethereal. (There's a little bit of nudity but it's not meant to be sexual. I figured I'd warn just in case). Cowboy Bebop Movie--Loved the series so I went to see the movie. Meh. Not BAD, but I like the brevity of the episodes better; this is really just an abnormally long episode. Identity Thief--Family movie night. All I will say is no movie has ever made me more tense before (take that as you will). Thanked by: BobbyLala

Like Moebius, he was still producing stuff until he died which is frustrating for fans Perfect Blue is another excellent film by Satoshi Kon. i recommend it. Thanked by: Baegal
