Kirby Mass Attack

That's because they're not strictly Nitro files, but rather a collection of Nitro files in one. Use this to unpack them;
Code:
java -jar GenericBUnpacker.jar -sizefirst filename1 filename2 ...
(if you downloaded this generic unpacker before, re-download it. Some bugs have been fixed, which prevented you form using the -sizefirst option without getting into an endless loop)

I can make my own icons but I need to know the correct English names of the enemies...

I'm going to leave this thread to Tonberry, since he's pretty pro with handling Kirby stuff... I'm probably the least knowledgable guy when it comes to Kirby.

I will look into it but I'm pretty sure that 90% of the English names are the same as they appear in the rom.

I want to rip Necrodeus (the final boss) but I'm having trouble locating his files ... interestingly I'm coming across a lot of sprites that weren't actually used in the game though.

As far as names go ...

- The puffer fish (jumping fish) I couldn't find any info on.
- "Guoh" is "Eelongo" (and King Eelongo)
- "Awasuki", as far as I can tell, roughly translates to "Bubble Love". That's all I can give you.
- "Bloston" I'm pretty sure just has the same name.
- "Asteroid Boyon" is just a level object so I don't think it really HAS a name.
- "Moggy" is just "Moggy"
- "Pytago" isn't actually used in the game. That's why the sprites look so unfinished. So just stick with the original name.

I'm having a hard time finding any info on the ones WildRandomness ripped, save for the zombie one who's name is Zombon.

Okay that helps, thanks.

Here they are:

And I made two icons for Awasuki, use whichever one you feel would be better:

This game is probably going to need a whole section just for unused sprites, because apparently there are A LOT.

Anyways, here's something fun.

[Image: kma_manpuku_ANI.png] [Image: kma_kingmanpuku_ANI.png]

These characters are called Tortletummy and King Tortletummy respectively. But here's the interesting thing; in the original Japanese their names are Manpuku and King Manpuku. What I find amusing about this is that there is a character in Okamiden that is also named Manpuku. Okamiden's Manpuku is a fat child with a tremendous appetite who carries around a small table on his back. Comparitively, these guys are really fat and have hard shells on their backs. This leads me to believe that this is some sort of Japanese pun.

Here's some more examples of unused sprites in the game; and there's still plenty more where this came from:

"Spiky"
(click me)

Unlike most of the unused material I'm finding, this guy's sprites and animations actually seem to be 100% complete. Yet I don't recall actually seeing this guy anywhere in the game. Can anyone tell me if I'm wrong about this?

"Gordog"
(click me)

For Gordo, this guy has a surprisingly complete set of animations. One for idle, one for attacking, one for taking damage, etc. My theory is that this guy was originally going to be an enemy for the RPG minigame.

"Uhho UFO"
(click me)

I'm guessing this is a prototype of the UFO that actually ended up in the game. I take it originally the flight-battle was supposed to be lateral as opposed to vertical.

"Hammer Knight"
(click me)

This piece is obviously way waaaay unfinished. There's not even any hammer involved for this "Hammer Knight". I'm thinking this was originally meant to be a midboss but got ditched early on.

Anyways I think it's interesting to see the sprites with flats like this because it gives you some insight as to how real sprite designers actually do their job. Animation takes priority, THEN they go back and worry about detail.

Jetters, I added yours to the first post, but you forgot to provide an icon for Moggy.

Necrodius' files are stuck in a 'bin' file. I actually ripped all of him myself thanks to Barubary's tools...BUT I LOST THE FRIGGIN' FILE. I honestly have no idea where the blasted thing went. If I find it I can post it. It's pretty disorganized though.

Hey quick question; is there some easy way to quickly unpack all the data files from NDS roms? I've been doing it via Tihaxan and basically have been right clicking and exporting each file individually one at a time, which is kind of a pain ...

NDSTool. It's a DOS program but making a shortcut with the following code in the Target...
Code:
-x ndsrom -d extractdirectory
i.e. "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Downloads\ndstool.exe" -x comana.nds -d c:/comana
...and then executing the shortcut will extract all the files into the folder. I would suggest making a copy of the rom and giving it a smaller name because I don't think it likes spaces. Personally I named it kirbymas.
Doofenshmirtz: This is a little bit awkward but have you seen my escape jet keys? (Perry nods) What, you have? Well that's great! So where are they? (Perry looks away) You won't tell me? Is this because you don't speak or are you just being a jerk?

DSLazy.
It's a frontend for several DS tools, including NDSTool.

It's basically like using the DOS program except 100x quicker with a frontend.
