In pursuit of a few PSX models, I've come to the conclusion that the only likely way to obtain them is by way of Noesis, since the print-screen style model ripping programs don't work with ePSXe, at least, not on my hardware, anyway. Since the two games in question--Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII--have supported file types listed in the drop down box for Noesis, I see it as my only currently viable solution.
However, the files in the ISOs are not the file types Noesis supports. From what I can tell looking at the forums here and elsewhere, when the contents of a PSX disc are dumped onto the computer, they are condensed into these files, usually called .BIN or .IMG, correct? Then a special executable program needs to be used to extract the original files from those condensed files. I've seen a few of those pointed out to people who want to use Noesis, but they've always been special programs that work for one game only. However, between the fact that Noesis has built-in support for the two games I'm hoping to rip, and the fact that I've seen models ripped from those games--on the Noesis home page if nowhere else--it's plainly obvious that someone, at some point, has made such programs for those games. What is not immediately apparent is whether or not those special programs have ever been put up for free distribution online, or if the people who made them kept them private. I don't even know what that type of file is called in order to run a search for it, though, so I'm at rather a loss about what to try next. My basic question, therefore, is "does anyone know if these files are available that will extract the files for FFVII and FFVIII?" With the additional, related questions of "what is that type of executable program called, so that I can run an Internet search to look for them?" and "is there any way to force a PC to be able to read the files on a Playstation disc so that an ISO won't be necessary in order to use Noesis?"
Any other general tips on Noesis will certainly be appreciated, if anyone feels like sharing them.
(Also, if anyone knows what game is represented in the 7th row of images of captured models on the Noesis page (http://oasis.xentax.com/index.php?content=home) I would really love to know what it is! That's the row that shows first a view of the Gold Saucer from a distance, and then an SD Tifa and then an SD Cloud. I've come across those SD characters as MMD models on YouTube, but I had no idea they were game rips.)
