Plus a more sprites would be awesome, and your sigs bigger than the sheet. Heres a good sprite sheet Tutorial A moderater will soon move this i think.

Nah it is the right section, we'll critique it and judge if it's good enough for submission, so here's the right place to do so.
Now, as Joebutler said, your credit's box is twice the size of sheet :/ About the sprites themselves, have you ever heard of shading ? Might help.

this sheet is useless.
As much as you worked in the panels and the character (which also aren't that good either), there are no animations or stuff that make this useful. When making a custom sheet, you need to ask yourself, "will people use this?" "do I have all the necessary stuff?" "does this look good?" If you get a no in those three questions, you might want to fix it until you get a yes on all of them. So, I wouldn't use this sheet. It looks bad, there is no logic in the shading and outlining placement, the colors are dull and washed out and you have little knowledge of shading. The fact that the panels are rectangular instead of square might be a detail you overlooked, but I'll consider it as a stylistic choice. You don't have the necessary stuff either, as you lack a walk animation on bomberman as well as exploding effects and animated bombs. What's the logic in making a bomberman sprite sheet without all the basic animations? Finally you need to stypy pixelart and traditional art more. Study how shading works, how to pick colors not from default XP Paint and avoid using pure black in the sprite. Finally stop using MS Paint premade tools, it looks completely amateur and ugly. Same with the credit tag that is bigger than the actual content itself. Thanked by: Garamonde

Sorry for wasting your time. It was my first attempt.

don't go 'oh.. I'm sorry... It's my first attempt' because that will not work at all.
I just gave my point of view in the sprites you posted. This is a critique board, basically, and if you posted your work here, it automatically means 'I worked on this, I am looking for criticism and I'll understand if people don't praise it'. This being a first attempt also doesn't magically turn your pixelart into a great work of art either; I am glad that you tried a custom work instead of editing others' stuff, but now that you have the means of making it better and know what's wrong, take your time and fix them, push your work to its limits. Also, work on the proportions a bit. His head is waaaay too rectangular, it should be more square shaped, and make it bigger too. Google a reference image (I found one for you, might not be the best but it's something), and you can see that his head is bigger than his body most of the time (though there are exceptions to this of course). Also make his feet rounder, they're too sharp edged and square. Finally, his belt buckle is rectangular, not plus-shaped, so either make the sprite larger or add corners to the yellow buckle because it doesn't look right.
Like Gorsal said, we're just trying to help you. We can harsh at times, but that's to see how far you're willing to go to get better. We think you can do it, you just have to keep trying and not take our comments personally. I love that you're trying to sprite Bomberman BTW (diehard fan here!), and I want to see this turn into a decent sprite, so don't give up. |
