Custom Dr. Mario from SSBM!

Oh my god... this is the best sheet ever. That blocky form, that jpg quality... so beautiful.
Seriously though, this is pretty bad. You should have posted it in the sprite and pixel art section first to get some critique, granted, if the sheet is saved on your computer as a jpg, then it's too late for that anyways.

Unfortunately, the character lacks dynamic and there is little to no shading. Don't stop at being lazy, copy-pasting one sprite and changing a few things will not look good: some of these moves are very different movements from one another, which is why it is best you re-draw them. Look at some stills, some screencaps or photographic references to get the poses right.

Quote:(unsure if troll.) anyway this is wrong in so many ways, I can't even give C+C on it. Please refer to this section's spriting dictionary and look for pixelart tutorials.

...
On one hand, come on TSR, you can give more in depth critique on this, on the other hand... Gors is RIGHT. There's a lot wrong with it. I am also suprised no one said anything about being glad its at least scratchwork. That sort of thing shows a bit of ambition... even if the rest of the sprite shows minimal effort. But I appreciate the thought. Anyways... its too blocky to look right, and not blocky enough to be on purpose. I'm going attempt to give advice on how to make it less blocky. First, the legs to not start at the end of his coat. Right now only his knee is really bending, and often its bending backwards. The actual hip starts about 4 pixels or so up from the end of the coat. And thus the coat will form to the rest of the leg. Secondly in Every punch or kick, there's no force behind it. Torsos should rotate during punchs and so. You also need to make the arm thickness more consistant. It often jumps in thinness way too much between frames. There's more that can be fixed, but I think I'll wait until you give it ago, so I don't overwhelm you. Or more honestly, to save so time if you don't come back to read this... Thanked by: Zadaben

No, it does not work like that.
Did the guy make custom work? Yes. That doesn't avoid his work from being utter shit. There's literally no effort on those, just check those copy-pasted body and head poses. There isn't anything that can be salvaged here. This being said, his main focus shouldn't be on making a sheet, even. He must know the very basics such as smooth outlining, drawing basic forms, studying anatomy A LOT and then attempting a static pose. When he gets the still pose right, then he can start worrying about studying animation. We're here to help, yes, but if the OP doesn't show iniciative to learn, then I feel I shouldn't waste my time on this.

Well he still did a better job than I can do. That's saying something.

A bad sprite is a bad sprite, even if it's better than another bad sprite, so I'm sorry but no, it's not saying something.
