Those tiles remind me a lot of Super Marisa World and Nitroid for some reason.
Mostly Nitroid.

hmm I've never played either of those or even heard of Nitroid. I have seen a video of Super Marisa World but I didn't see any snow tiles.. '~'
So I've made a little change in the tiles to perhaps give them more depth. How do they look? Also I accidentally deleted half of the stage builder code somehow and when I rewrote it tons of other stuff stopped working. But as you can see from the screenshot it still works to an extent. However, if you simply erase an object, every other object's coordinates get randomly jumbled and I can't figure out why. It will just take a bit longer to finish. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to take a well deserved nap Thanked by: Garamonde, Gors, Previous, Lexou Duck, recme, ThePortalGuru

Like two pages ago
Here was the most recent one but it's riddled with glitches. http://www.mediafire.com/?e71d9r88d9n3pl3

so, a month ago? is there actually being any work done on the engine? it's got a ton of flaws right now outside of just glitches

Ploaj is a still a student, and it's entirely possible he had school up until around now or even still, besides, he's put in a ton of work already for the game, and will get to it when he can. Don't see the need for you to bug him about it. You're acting like it's a dead project.

'~' It was more the sky world in Super Marisa World that I was reminded of, and Nitroid's extra world, mostly the background though, I'll admit. The tiles are great, by the way, I think I forgot to mention that. Thanked by: Ploaj

I've been working on the engine pretty much every day this week making the stage builder and slight changes here and there in the actually engine. I would love to hear any criticisms you have and suggestions on what to do to help it improve
C+C is always appreciated after all.

I would love to hear any criticisms you have and suggestions on what to do to help it improvewell, right now, movement is very slippery (and not in the good way)-- it makes platforming feel really unnatural and nothing like a mario game (in fact-- the current movement engine reminds me more of Sonic but with far less speed). which would be almost okay if you weren't going for a mario parody (i assume), but even if you weren't, the movement still feels like it needs a ton of refining. it doesn't feel like the player has control over their character right now. ladders are buggy (which i'm sure you're aware of)-- the first time i tried to run the engine, i ran into the ladder and it kept pulling me into the ladder, even when i tried to walk away Thanked by: Ploaj

Yea I fixed most of that, and I believe I mentioned that I was working on fixing the skidding because it seems too uncoordinated. I'll try to finish refining everything then upload another update to see if there are any more inconveniences.
Thanks for the input

I finally completely fixed all the things wrong with the stage builder and finally started making the gui.
I'm putting the finishing touches on it now. As for the actually engine, I've smoothed out several things and made collisions easier also, I changed around the character's stats a bit to balance Sengi~ and Arisa. Sengi now will have a double jump instead of hover and Arisa runs noticeably faster than Sengi~. |
