Sounds pretty awesome to me. Though I can see NSMB 2 just having them with wands... you, know because SMB3 is a God now days.
And well, Mario bosses have always been easy, but as long as there good/cool I don't mind. I love the final boss on Yoshi's Island as it was just so damn cool. In fact I loved all the bosses on that game... Nintendo needs to make more bosses like that.

I don't know about every boss, I still can't beat Manta Storm from Super Mario Sunshine and it's been years!

Larry comes out with his wand and spinning shell so you stomp on him three times, now he's pissed! He jumps into a mini tank and shoots Bob-ombs at you so throw the Bob-ombs back at him three times, you win!
Kind of like that. Halfway through the battle they change what you have to do. that sounds incredibly baby easy.

while on the subject of bosses it'd be nice if this game had a bowser fight that wasn't completely contrived like pretty much every other one

Multiple breakable bridges is an idea.
Break the bridge, Bowser falls.
But wait! There is a bridge under a bridge! And for each bridge, the battle gets more challenging (harder-to-dodge fireballs, less platforms, longer bridges to cross)
...
Why am I pitching ideas?

because jumping on his head six times is twice the challenge.
mario as a whole(boss-wise) are extremely poor in both challenge and desing on their platform installments.
wich is a shame, because if we take a look at other platformers on the company like DKCR...
I think that boss battles in Mario games are more there just to be there, rather than being the one of the major aspects. What really matters most is the normal levels where you actually do stuff, I think boss battles are more of a border between worlds.
You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing that we call "failure" is not the falling down, but the staying down. -Mary Pickford

I think the main problem in terms of boss difficulty is that these games are trying to appeal to a rather broad demographic of both kids and adults who played these games AS kids. If they heavily ramped up the difficulty, it wouldn't be as much fun to play for younger audiences, and they might lose appeal in that regard. I do remember Mario games when I was younger and having a bit of difficulty with bosses that as an adult were almost painfully easy.
Then again, there are still some bosses I choke up on as an adult. I can't remember them off hand though... I think it's high time I replayed some classic games. xD

Well like I said, not more difficult, but changes things up to keep things interesting. And I don't mean the boss starts moving faster. He actually changes his strategy and thus you have to defeat him differently halfway through the battle.

its been proven thru the years that mario's platforming branch appeal aint its challenge, but rather the incredibly easy to aproach gameplay.

I actually think Super Mario Bros. 3 is a relatively difficult game compared to the others.

only on the end game stages though. these tank-airship scenarios were the real deal and they still hold their own as some of the hardests due to the constant presure the scrolling background puts on you.
wich makes me even more interested in that NSMBDS 3 hack i saw in the other thread.
