Been playing the latest DLC for NSMB2... FOR FREE!
I paid for all the DLC so far, but the one we get for free, so much fan service.
At first glance it's SMB W1-1, SMB3 W1-1 and SMB W1-4, including a Bowser Battle, but levels like SMB W1-2 are hidden within those levels aswell.
Though it took me just 20 minutes or so, it was fun exploring all kinds of secrets.
I was disappointed with the game after I hit 9.999.999 coins, but this really made my day.

So... inside word from Nintendo, or someone getting overexcited from the Miiverse leaks last week?

So, apparently, there's a new Yoshi Island game coming to Wii U. This reminds me of Retro working on a game "everyone wanted them to do" and hiring watercolor artist. While in another thread I argumented that even if it made sense, watercolor =/= Yoshi's Island, it seems likely that this is what Retro has been working on.

I, for one, can't wait to see how it'll look like, if it's true! Smile

I think the only Yoshi oriented game I've ever been able to get into would be Yoshi's Story, and it's probably one of my most favorite games of all time. So many childhood memories involve that game.

While I currently don't associate Yoshi to watercolors in any particular way, I really think that it sounds interesting. Hopefully it turns out well, if that's the combination they were talking about in the first place anyway.

Hmm, the more I look at this, the more vague and mistaken it looks. The description for the game seems ultra generic. Maybe someone on bestbuy saw the miiverse leak (image) and got excited. Oh well, so much for that.

So you know how a few pages back we were talking about how Paper Mario: Sticker Star is bad? I think I just found out why.

Quote:There were two main things that Miyamoto-san said from the start of the project—"It's fine without a story, so do we really need one?" and "As much as possible, complete it with only characters from the Super Mario world."

Quote:We did a survey over the Super Paper Mario game in Club Nintendo, and not even 1% said the story was interesting

Quote:I originally saw it in a way that's similar to Miyamoto-san. Personally I think all we need is to have an objective to win the boss battle at the end of the game.

Quote:No, there were times when Miyamoto-san has really gotten angry at me! (laughs) Like about treatment of Bowser.

Quote:We worked hard so that this game would become the new standard for future Paper Mario games, so please play it to the fullest!
Talk about feedback being totally misunderstood!
how can you do this to me miyamoto

right after Super Paper Mario you slap me with this shit

no im not buying the next paper mario if that happens
Yeah, I figured that something like that happened regarding characters and story:/

What's really distressing though is this
Quote:We worked hard so that this game would become the new standard for future Paper Mario games, so please play it to the fullest!

Also I'd like to reiterate that I don't think Sticker Star is a bad game. It's a good game held back by some really frustrating design decisions. Like they intentionally sacrificed a lot of what's great about Paper Mario as part of their obnoxious quest to homogenize everything in the Mario franchise.
pkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
NO!
NO!
This goes against everything I learned!
It's all about the gameplay? All about just beating the boss? Bull shit!
Want to play a game just to beat the boss? Play Super Mario Bros. Who in their right mind thought this was applicable to RPGs!?
A good game is supposed to have feel. Beating a boss should be a satisfying experience. The story should be immersive.
Gameplay can be a major focus, but don't leave it as a fucking skeleton. Give it a body! Grow some fucking balls, Nintendo. I've had it!

I've been getting second thoughts about getting Paper Mario and even the WiiU, because I mainly wanted New Super Mario Bros. U. I can spoil myself without feeling spoiled, nothing is a surprise. I practically played NSMB.U by watching playthroughs on YouTube. I'll eventually get the WiiU. Smash Bros. is something that never fails as a party fighting game.
I'm also hoping, nay, praying that Yoshi U will be any good. The whole watercolor thing is an interesting idea, like Yoshi's Island was with crayons. However, thinking of Yoshi's Island DS, it can go horribly wrong.

Sorry, I'm just very upset with the whole mindset of Nintendo right now. I've been blindly accepting their blood, sweat and laziness, because of my fanboyism, but I gradually feel more and more cheated by them.
At least the Gold Classic Pack for NSMB2 was good. Not just because of nostalgia (the good kind), but because of the amazing amount of exploration. It's also the first Coin Rush pack to have Bowser as a boss and the first DLC pack to have a boss. And even if the pack is super easy, reaching the end zone feels rewarding. It's something Nintendo did right. It's just sad it doesn't last long as it's just a pack of 3 levels.

I dont think sticker star is an RPG
Thanked by:
So I got this idea today about doing something akin to a Nuzlocke Challenge, but instead of doing it in a Pokemon Game I'd do it in Dark Souls.

Then I decided that was a really horrible idea for me to do this week.

They actually did say in that interview that they pretty much abandoned the RPG genre for this game.

I was saying that in response to nicktendo

It's still a game with RPG elements. Heck, it even has turn-based enemy battles!
