Huh, I just realized I can use that gray shadow tone for an outline.
How does this look? Thanked by: Gaia

(like stick with the darkest shade of red for the hat's and chest's outlines.) also the shoulder plates shading is backwards (the light looks like its coming from the top in the other sprites) and don't seem to need the dithering Thanked by: Keiang

Daw shit, I may actually enter this thing. Been trying to get back into spriting lately...

Yeah, the shoulderpad thing was bugging me, but that's how the blue guy under Scarab showed it, so I dunno.
http://spriters-resource.com/snes/battle...eclash.gif I guess it was trying to convey depth while showing how flat the surface is or something. Anyway, like this? Thanked by: Iceman404

Does Castlevania Symphony of the Night count from the sega genesis?
08-06-2012, 04:45 PM
That would be a PSX title, so I would think not.
As for the subtheme, am I required to sprite in a style that is from the SNES/Genisis, or can it be any well-known style in general? I have a few different sprites I would like to try, but I'm having trouble finding other styles that they can translate to, being that there palettes are very specific/minimal. It's optional, as I my subtheme along with this is not to use a well-known style from those two consoles only and making it into an origional style of my own.

Yes it was, but for the Sega Saturn. That is a completely different system from the Genesis.
Not to nitpick, but the first post does stipulate that your base sprite must originate from an SNES or Genesis title respectively. As for my previous question, I wasn't asking whether the sub theme was mandatory, I was asking if it is permitted to sprite in a style that does not belong to a SNES or Genesis style.

I wanted to mess with the cybercop idea a bit. This is my progress so far with Raita. Unsure if I want to tweak the armor a bit more and/or give him kneeguards, as it looks a bit meshed up. Kinda hard to work with this kind of pallete. I might screw around with it a bit by using a few other colors from another character that uses the source's pallete. Am I still able to mess around with the design even after the compo's over though? I'm pretty sure this guy's IP copyright has been long since dead so yeah. Thanked by: Garamonde
