in a more helpful note, you could alternate the curvy/pointy cheek feathers depending on his mood, like this:



Notice how spiky Ryu's vest is when throwing a fireball. It exaggerates in a cartoony proportion to make the animation stand out. So, if th animation is quick/strong, you could make it spikier and if the animation is simple and slow, curvier. This being a cartoon-based character, this animation style could add to its design.
