I will admit, though, that franchises like Zelda (Hyrule Historia anyone?) or Metroid are more a subject for discussion.

It's not like any of them had a personality. Atleast Bowser Jr. being his one true son makes sense as to why he's so close to him and has shown real affection towards.

I disagree about them having no personality. Their general design already gave them some, and their animations in the NSMB games only gave them more. It's subtle, but it's there.
