LA Game Space

"What that fuck is LA Game Space?" You might have said out loud before opening this thread, later chastising yourself for having blurted out your inner thoughts again in front of your aging mother, who still thinks that you're suffering from mild schizophrenia.

Well, this might answer some of your questions. More or less, it's a space for game devs of all kinds to showcase/test their work in a public setting. Ambitious? Please. It's fucking class act. Lemme just break down a diagram of the place for you real quick.

The directors of this project have their eyes on this huge warehouse to open LA Game Space at, and they've broken it down into a couple different sections, labelled above. Exhibitions are where new games are shown off to the general public. Speakers and workshops are for people interested into looking a little more into the behind-the-scenes aspects of the games they're looking at. Research labs are for testing new games before they're shown of as exhibitions. During the course of research, the gameplay, tester pulse and tester face and eye movement are all tracked and recorded. The directors of the project intend for all of this information to be released for public consumption and research, which IMO is an incredibly awesome thing to do. Residencies are where the bulk of the work gets done. Developers work closely with specialists in various other fields to explore different ways of using gameplay to further the medium of vidya, and the exhibitions below directly reflect these collaborations.

SO YEAH I GUESS THERE'S A KICKSTARTER TOO

Well, yeah. There is, and the rewards are all. Fucking. Great.

Before I go into, though, I think I should let Pen Ward do a little bit of the talking for me.

So yeah. Pendleton Ward of "Adventure Time" fame and Ben Foddy of "QWOP" fame are in on this too, and they're collaborating on a game, and for 15 honest-to-goodness dollars you can get all of this shit.

That's 31 games. 31. And for not even 1/3 of the price of a AAA game. Just $15. Come on, guys.

I don't normally get this excited about things, but this has me all kinds of excited, so please. Just give it a look.

TL;DR: Kickstarter for awesome new video game museum/showcase backed by Pen Ward and other awesome guys needs your help to become a thing.

I know one of the dudes who's doing this, he is super passionate about teaching people about games. Honestly one of the most inspiring Kickstarters I have seen in a long time, and I am shocked at its lack of attention. He said that if it gets completed he wants me to fly out and give a talk on pixelart's use in gaming and how it went from required to a style statement.

They're also super passionate about it all.
Tsunami Bomb - The Simple Truth
We could run away
Leave behind anything paper
Not knowing where we're going to stay
When there's no Mondays

You're part of me, it's so easy to see the simple truth
When I'm in your arms, I feel safe from harm and sorrow too
You're part of me, it's so easy to see the simple truth
But most of all, nothing couldn't be solved when I'm with you
