[Update] Quest For a New Slave - An idea of comic with Kefka
#1
SEE UPDATE AT ENDĀ OF POST

---------------
Hello !

Lately, I just had a crazy idea of comic and it was time for me to test my own FF6-styled Yoshi sprites.
For those who are not familiar with FF6 : Terra, the protagonist, was controlled by the evil Kefka with a Slave Crown to turn her into an Imperial weapon. When Kefka first tested it, he asked her to wipe out soldier and so, she wiped out 50 of them within 3 minutes.

And now, what if Kefka controlled someone else with as much potential as an imperial weapon and that isn't necessarily from a FF universe ... then Yoshi came into my mind.

Hope you like it !

PS : [MyNotSoInterestingLife] I hesitated a little bit before posting or even making this comic because my self-esteem isn't very high. Nerdy kids like me (with even a disability in my case) were easy target for bullies at school and I'm still struggling with the aftermaths such as anxiety. So it doesn't take much to make me doubt about if an idea is good or not because I'm always afraid that it wouldn't. [/MyNotSoInterestingLife]
So if this attempt passes the test, I might make more comics as new ideas come into my mind.

As suggested in a reply, what was just a simple webcomic test is turning into a Kefka-centered comic where our FF6 main villain must find a new slave after Terra slipped from his grip. Various characters from different videogames will be put to test, with mixed results.

Starting from this idea, I made a first draft of a heading. Here it is

(it's 990px wide, that's why the link)
Sabin : Kefka ! Wait !!!
Kefka : Wait he said ? Do I look like a waiter ?

This is very interesting. It feels relatively fresh and it is not bad compared to most beginner sprite comics. Anyway, try looking at more successful sprite comics to give you more ideas on how to do layouts, effects, and humor. Those should give you ideas on how to make your comics even better.

Also, while I do like the gag that is presented here, I'm having mixed feelings about whether or not making the entire comic about Yoshi playing out the adventures of Final Fantasy 6 would be the best premiss if this would be a sprite comic series. Instead, maybe it could focus on Kefka's attempts to find a new slave other than Terra, which lead to him seeking out other video game characters with mixed results?

it's ok to suck, sucking is not bad, just try and aim to always do your best!

Phew, I was really nervous before reading the reply but finally it went better than I expected (can't help but being a fearball, lol)

Thanks ! I used Gimp's guides a lot to align the elements. About the layout, yes I know the quickly-done heading (which wasn't really official yet) was added at the end. I also based the image size on the battle background I used. Actually I don't know if there is any size standard regarding sprite comics.

The "Find a Slave Quest" idea sounds good actually and I'm thinking about other candidates. But if I take characters from other videogames, I can't guarantee the sprite used will be the same style unless I make them myself (if not arleady done). For example, while I actually found a FF6-styled Pikachu sprite sheet, some other characters have no FF6-styled sprite sheet, and some characters such as Robo from Chrono Trigger will be hard to adapt due to his width.
With this idea, I can work on a better heading or even an intro page. For example,
Sabin : Kefka ! Wait !!!
Kefka : Wait he said ? Do I look like a waiter ?

UPDATE

From the suggestiion given above, I started working on the idea of centering the comic on Kefka and his attempts to find a new slave.

From this, I started working on a heading. Here is the first draft :

As I will probably say about 4,000 times more, Final Fantasy 6 is the greatest game ever created! Just need to make that known now.

"Ah yeah right, I'm not on Facebook !"

This one and FF4 are my favourite FF !

EDIT
* Ishimaru Chiaki discovers that there's actually a feature on this board (a mod ?) to convert this "me" IRC command
Sabin : Kefka ! Wait !!!
Kefka : Wait he said ? Do I look like a waiter ?
