You should add multiple pages to the search results.

Currently there's no pages system on the search results page, so if you search "mario world" it has to display 16,000+ results on one page. That RUINS my performance.  Angry

We're currently developing a new version of the sites, and search results will be paginated; and also much more accurate so you don't get results for every instance of "Mario" and "World"

For reference though, if you wanted to only see results for Mario World on the current system, just put it in quotes: https://www.spriters-resource.com/search...o+World%22

But yes, this functionality was created when there was far less content on the site and the new search page will be paginated and quite a bit easier to use.
