TSR's Super Smash Bros Thread|SWITCH HYPE TRAIN NOW BOARDING

I've actually been thinking a lot about the character voices used in Smash (mainly about how DK and Bowser are just animals...) and I've come to the conclusion that I would really like a "My Voices" menu that works basically just like My Music. They hire as many of the historic voice actors as they can (including universally distributed language packs) and allow players to set the frequency of that voice being used. Some voices could have unique phrases, like Jaleel White replacing "Sonic Speed" with "Up, over, and gone!"

It would be a neat way to explore a pretty significant aspect of Nintendo history that the franchise hasn't really covered yet.

I'd definitely would like DK to sound like DK. I know some people don't like his current voice in the DK series so they could switch the "My Voices" to N64 Smash DK if they prefer.

How much you want to bet that they'll probably re-use most of Mewtwo's melee voices?

(It'd be nice if they actually have Mewtwo talk like they did in the Japanese version of Melee, that would be neat.)

I think Mewtwo's old English voice actor died, its not something I can search up right now. I hope they find a new one for him though rather than butcher his entire character with that silly unfitting voice they slapped on him in the more recent movie.

I'll be so pissed.

Edit; oh nope, Dan Green's alive!

Oooh, I wish this was a thing. That would be really cool.

The only option they would consider there is more than likely Fox and Falco Smug

Jokes aside, I'd love an option for Melee/Super Mario 64 Mario voices. His Brawl and Sm4sh acting sounds like a tired, dry, and quiet old man in comparison to the extremely enthusiastic Mario I'm used to.

I feel the same way, and for Luigi as well. Guess what were the first voice hacks to be put in my build of Project M. (For Luigi, I use a pack that uses clips that I believe are from GCN games ~2002-2005; I wanted to avoid the similar dry acting in Luigi without resorting to pitched up Mario voices from 64/Melee).

Thats hardly anything like Smash 4. If you look closely, there's actual combos and a reward for aggressive play

You keep momentum with all your jumps, you actually keep momentum from your jumps! Like any other platformer you can run and jump and cover actual distance!! Melee's physics are literally the reason I can't play the game or take it seriously, lol

In comparison to Brawl and 4 (even 64, though) everyone just feels like they're made of lead. I've actually played with pals and found myself jumping down pits when I'm trying to recover (but part of it's because air dodging's different than the later games, and I find myself falling helplessly after air dodging)
There's also the whole thing of the twitch reflexes needed to do half the crazy shit you see in competitive Melee. When I play my character always moves around the screen like a shitty slug.

Is there something you've gotta do to do like, half the things you even see in tourneys? Is that why every GameCube controller I've seen other people down have the joysticks reduced to plastic nubs that cut into your thumbs?

Honestly, it's just something that took adapting to for me. Once you get it down you value how much quicker everyone falls relatively to the newer games.

It can't be any slower or different than how you play the latter titles, so I don't see much of an issue here.

Well this can't possibly be a problem! Any action game with a ridiculously high skill ceiling, accidentally so or not, is going to require faster and faster inputs the higher you scale in it. It seems like you're trying to play in a way that you're probably not ready for, tournament videos you see are from the highest bar imaginable and shouldn't be a reference point for anyone newly trying out that kind of stuff.
