Curious how you go about ripping GBA stuff, is it just hard ripping/using VBA's viewers? Or is there a more "clean" method?

Tile Molester and LOOOOTS of assembly (luckily not so much in the case of those recent two sheets). I still use VBA for map ripping most of the time, but rarely do I use emulators to rip sprites anymore.

Damn, I'm jealous. I can never get Tile Molester to work right with GBA games.

I've thought about writing out a tutorial and posting it somewhere around here but it would just be echoing stuff from Raccoon Sam's TM tutorial (it's on YouTube if you wanna check it out!)

Yeah, psh, only five years since the last post. Hasn't been any time at all. Nope.
GBA Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors Challenge Mode This was a little side-project I've been messing with on and off. Nothing too extraordinary but it's from a game I adore so I couldn't help myself from ripping a few bits and bobs. My priority these days when it comes to sprite ripping is revisiting some of my old, potentially incomplete content and games I've submitted to get them as close to complete as I can manage. What that looks like long-term, well... no clue at all - but I'MMA DO MY FRICKEN BESTEST. Happy ripping, y'all~ Thanked by: Yawackhary, Ton

I guess the Shadowy Showreel is just gonna be me posting a random DBZ sprite sheet every few years.
DS / DSi Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors 2 Broly This game is what got me into sprite ripping so figured I'd dive into it again. It's interesting to me that so many of the animation frames are just straight up unused in-game. For example: The in-game "charging ki" sprite (at least for Broly, maybe others) is a static image, even though the character data clearly has a looping animation for that action. Kind of weird. Makes me wonder how much of a rush there was to get this out early in the DS's lifetime. Have a beautiful day you beautiful video game fans! |
