GAMER LOUNGE 20XX (NO CASUALS!!)
Which is actually really interesting to me, that Nintendo hasn't really let the original Donkey Kong arcade franchise disappear. It's transformed to the point where it isn't recognizable anymore, but the franchise survived with stepping stones the whole way into the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series.

A lot of the DK community sort of hates Mario VS Donkey Kong series because of the way it portrays DK himself. We like DK to be the hero he was made to be in DKC.

Spontaneous thought:

Do you guys think Mewtwo can actually talk, or is that all telepathy? Like, if Mewtwo actually opened its mouth and said something all that would come out is an adorably squeaky "Meeewwwwtwwwwoooo!"?

He's probably capable of speaking without telepathy, after all Meowth taught himself to talk over time. I think any pokémon with suitable vocal cords could probably do the same thing.

Perhaps, but Meowth has proven to have a very distinct brain compared to other Pokemon. He is capable of constructing and running complex machinery. In an episode where Team Plasma had built a mind control device for Pokemon, Meowth proved to be more resistant to the machines effects (though he did eventually succumb when the machine raised it power)

True, Meowth is exceptional and seems to have an x factor seperating him from regular pokémon, in addition to him being highly motivated when he was learning to humainze himself. So perhaps simply having the potential to produce the correct sounds or words isn't enough, and a certain level of intelligence/comprehension is required in addition to practice and discipline? The one talking Slowking could be an example of this as he was capable of non-telepathic speech like Meowth.

Pokemon all seem to have an innate understanding of human language from birth and can converse with other pokemon and discuss complex ideas no different from humans.

Their intelligence seems to be pretty much on par with humans, so it seems like it just takes a lot of skill and effort for them to talk.

And this is one of the reasons why the Digimon anime was better! *runs*

Its wierd. The anime portrays Pokemon as animal-like and simple at times. Then at other times it portrays them as being as intelligent as humans. However, that seems to be in the later episodes. Early episodes of Pokemon showed them as being wild and stupid.

That isn't true, though. Island of the Giant Pokemon is a season one episode devoted entirely to demonstrating that the Pokemon are as intelligent as humans.

It's almost as though a children's cartoon was somehow poorly written. Who'dve thunk.

The first international games festival in New Zealand! And it's in Wellington so I can actually go!! Maybe I can even do a lightning talk and rant about something for 5 minutes!!!

I'm so hyped for this, I never get to go to stuff like E3 or PAX, Armageddon might count but that's more like Comic Con. To actually have an annual festival dedicated to games and game development, especially here in Wellington, is just the most exciting thing ever Big Grin Big Grin

So I've always wanted to make a fangame but I'm only capable of making sprites. How can I get people interested in helping me make something like that? I would need programmers, artists, music writers, and so much more. No easy feat. I don't know if it's possible to get a team on board. TSR itself has attempted it many times and it often never goes anywhere.

Alas, I have a burning passion to do so anyway!
