Portable software links redundant for wiki
#1
It has revealed that Photoshop has been portablized that would let users use it on their USB device to take it to whatever computer they need to use and install the software without the need for heavy duty process of setting up the software and has a startup added before the photoshop startup. It doesn't seem that portable software can ever be pirated versions of a specific software even though cracks or something to allow them to bypass the limits could be considered piracy. It did sound like those aren't condone here.

I'm afraid that these portable versions of Photoshop are specifically designed to be lightweight, but also bypass Adobe's authentication servers. Downloading them simply makes it possible for someone to download the latest full version of the software without buying it. We can't allow that.

I do believe that CS2 has recently gone free, but I cannot confirm this. Can anybody help here?

I'm aware that CS2 is actually free, but then Adobe wanted to make money out of the software they buy from stores. Those prices are very expensive and we need to save money for other stuff, so we get the portable so that we can use this for desired projects we'd like to work on.

CS2 has not gone free. They have released universal activation keys for CS2 since they shut down it's activation servers. These keys are licensed for use only by legitimate customers who can no longer activate their legally purchased product. While there is nothing stopping anyone from simply downloading the software and activating it with that public key, it is still technically an illegal act.

As far as portable versions go, Adobe does not currently offer any free or portable official versions of their software so anything you find in this category is illegal and cannot be linked or shared here. Yes, Photoshop is expensive but it's not required and there is a cheaper light version available as well.

While I am personally inclined to agree, we are not above the law, and cannot lawfully suggest anybody commit acts of piracy just because they cannot afford the software.

We aren't stopping people from doing so, but we simply cannot encourage it.

I'll go verify this in another site if all the portable software are legal or not, I'm sure people have to use the software in their own risk and use it for private/home use only.

There is no need to verify anywhere. Personal or home or business use or otherwise, there is no free version of Photoshop or any other Adobe software available legally. End of story.

I'd recommend Gimp or Krita over photoshop. If you don't need everything Adobe has to offer, then why pay for photoshop when something else can do what you need without the huge price tag?

Because (1. those softwares don't have 3D support (2. We have to save money for other things (3. It's needed for to take into a different computer and you want to use it for unlimited time rather than a trial period (4. It has the smart filter or other filter options needed for the editor when needed. (5. Portablizing software doesn't make it pirated, it compresses it to be usable for a USB device.

Pirating the software does make it pirated and that is exactly what every version of "portable" Photoshop is. Adobe does not, has never, and likely will never offer a portable version of any of their software.

And that, right there, proves my point. Why would Adobe charge all that money for their standard installable version and then just give away the exact same software as an easily redistributable stand alone executable?

Hint: They wouldn't. What you've found is an illegal copy of Photoshop.

At this point, I'm closing this thread. As we've stated multiple times already, we cannot stop you from doing whatever you want on your own time but we do not condone and will not allow piracy to be promoted here. I'm sorry if this seems unnecessarily harsh but given the way things seem to work these days, we cannot risk being held responsible for promoting any sort of illegal activity.
