Some new sprites I'm working on...
#16
Been awhile since I've been here...Thanks Solid Spy for you support!

BTW what do 'DOS' (in this context) mean?

I'm honestly kind of confused by this statement.

Considering that graphics are aesthetics, you're going for 8-bit graphics but not necessarily 8-bit graphics.
What? Either pick one or the other.

I don't understand this fascination that people have with making "8-bit" while refusing to take into account the things that make 8-bit 8-bit.

Edit- I noticed in the OP you said that these are simple graphics for a test game so if all they are is temporary placeholders while you play around, that's fine. If that's the case I apologize for coming off as abrasive.
But if you're asking for actual C+C on things you that intend to put in a game that you intend to ship and this is your result, that sort of thing won't cut it..

I dunno if you gonna ban me for disagreeing/retaliating to you post (I dunno, some MSg Board Mods/Adm do those type of things when you don't agree or speak up against them), but hey, that's your opinion.  I'm pretty sure I can go through your sprite sheets (or whatever you call them) and pick apart stuff that 'won't cut it' as a product for commercial/artistic uses.

As for everyone else, well, this is the Internet; I posted content so I gotta take the criticism along with it. And I never meant for them to be hard steadfast '8-bit' (might've said that in err in one post) sprites (yea, yea, I know there really no such thing as '8-bit' sprite, but just the color palette limitations), but just a similar style.  So please stop being anal about technicalities.

Again, thx for you criticism (negative or constructive, you may think), but the game is pretty much finished.  Will post a demo in the other section.

The style is informed by general graphic design principles and system limitations. HOWEVER, at the end of the day it's your choice to do what you will, BUT you're also choosing to ignore perfectly valid critique because "it's the internet" the reason why people are getting annoyed is because you brush everything you don't want to (but need to) hear and make no effort to attempt anything different.

Refusing to even try and learn from others will only resign yourself to a life of mediocrity. People are trying to help you improve; if they didn't want to help, they wouldn't post here (generally speaking). But it seems like you don't really want help, so I'm sure you'll get as much as you want.

Also the "I bet I can find something you've done that goes against what you're saying" argument is petty and abhorrently childish. But even so, what qualifications do you have in regards to what will or will not 'cut it'? It's already apparent that there's a lack of understanding in regards to even the minimum stylistic sensibilities that you're trying to emulate.

Hey, man, using your own style is always encouraged here at the Resource.

Technically speaking, however, editing Megaman sprites isn't really considered "You're own style." How about you try something completely different and develop you're own style Big Grin

Nah, you don't have to worry about that.

I think he means MS DOS, an old Microsoft operating system that had its fair share of games.
