Kyleglor's Gameboy Sprites (Luigi's Mansion)
#1
I started off just making portraits and then turned into a Luigi's Mansion project, mainly because of the Gameboy Horror

And a quickly put together rough test mockup screen

I imagined a top down view Ive added a top down view on Luigi, at first but then quickly got carried away with a side scrolling sprite.
Anyway figured Id post this here after my long hiatus, would like to hear what you guys think.

You've only got the one frame there, anyway, and side-scroller games on GB typically suffered from the low resolution. I see a top-down game similar to New Ghostbusters 2 working well on a small screen like that.

Yeah I know Ive only got one frame I started with the sides of his face then i started drawing a body and i couldn't quit adding pixels. That's honestly why i wrote test next to it because i thought i wasn't going to like it but i did. Im about to have I have a B version of luigi

Update on Luigi's sprite as well as a top down sprite for him fitting the 16x16 or two pieces of 8x8 obeying Gameboys four color per sprite of course the 8x8 is the main one for proper turning with the front piece being displayed in front of the head piece the 16x16 was just so the pieces could be seen together.

With the sidescroller/ title screen sprite im really leaning towards B and the third sprite would be Luigi's facial reaction after spoting a ghost, and there was a B on the top down sprite but I felt it was unnecessary to even include because it lacked luigis right arm completely to show more of the Poltergust.

Updated OP with current wip sheet

There isn't enough variation between the portraits. They just look like edits of each other. You should give them some more variety.

There isn't enough variation and I believe you could get help studying GB sprites and certain styles.

I made my version of Luigi referencing the style Game & Watch Gallery has which are pretty good for a GB game.

That's really good Im still trying to improve my skills I thought this concept was a good idea because of the Gameboy horror so ive been thinking that it would make a good community project, I was thinking of getting a team together but don't know how popular it would be
