Hi,
I need a perfect rip of both layers of Stage 1 of Capcom's Ghouls'n Ghosts.
I tried to get it with MAME. I used the following:
start game, then F4, then 2 x RET to go to the tile viewer, choosing the layer I need, and make a screenshot : I get the first 1024 pixels of the stage.
Then play the game a little to get some pixels further in the stage (but in such a way that some pixels overlap the first screenshot, to allow precise gluing), make another screenshot, etc.
Then I use paint.net to glue the screenshots together (XOR mode between layers so a black rectangle appears when I get a perfect match for the overlapping pixels).
The problem is I can't have a perfect match : if the first 96 pixels are perfectly matched, the 100 next are 1 pixel off. It looks like MAME tile viewer forget (or add) a column of pixels every 96 pixels.
What can be the cause of this problem ? Me ? My MAME configuration ? A known problem by MAME ?
Is there another technique I could use to get a pixel-perfect rip ?
