Annoying Things People Say/Do
#91
well... it annoys me, too...yet i do it.

when i type, my real grammatical skills are not always shown. i misspell words (typically by swithing letters) .
i type using combinations of english , txt, and lolspeak, since this is an optimized way to type. i can type the 'right way', but i have to override my typical thought processes to do so, and i hate doing that. it also slowls me down immensely. typically what i do is drop a lot of the grammar and punctuation down to thebare minimum that it's still somewhat intelligible. still, i try to keep word use as accurate as possible. however, i have noticed a few occassions i do the vaery thing you have just complained about, and then i kinda tear my hair out about all the typos in the email, chat, or post i just typed. XD

Case in point: YOUTUBE.
I just got severe audio errors on two videos now, and after multiple re-loads. Fuck this. Cracks me up how when something goes wrong that little "experiencing interruptions?" piece of bullshit appears, and upon clicking it, the information page lists every reason that implies google/youtube's complete inability to correctly program a video player has nothing to do with it. Youtube ran on "crappy" computers before, so if those same computers cannot handle it, anymore, they need to revert it back till they can. Simple common sense. I'm fucking tired of being unable to watch anything there because it's either been taken-down for "copyright" reasons total bullshit , or because the sound card is not running, or the audio is horribly scratchy, or some update to the site itself has dropped the video's volume so fucking low it may as well be muted. There's going to be one hell of a party some day if some other site/company somehow manages to bring youtube's monopoly tumbling down, by creating a service more like the youtube we once loved. The ONLY reason youtube is top dog is because of the lack of competition, and many, including myself, would gladly leave if there were actually somewhere to go. This really pisses me off!

It really confuses and annoys me when people leave open-ended messages. I'm a very straightforward no-bullshit person when it comes to communication, so most people I'm close to know not to be smartasses or be overly-passive agressive when they speak to me.

One example...I was on a forum (will not specify because I am nice Smile) showing some of my ideas for a game. This idea involved gender-bending, or changing gender. Like Ranma 1/2. Kinda odd, right? I know. Most of the people were involved with discussing my progress on said project, but one comment sticks out for me when I look back at it:

"You're scaring me, Jasmine."

WHAT. What does that even mean??? Thankfully, I think I ignored it and brushed it off because I generally don't care about what other people think...But when I look back nowadays, I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what this person meant. Was he being a little shit and teasing me for involving something like Rule 63* in a game? Or was he legit being a bigot and claiming that he has a fear of people who like these tropes of media that aren't as common as others?...Either way, I'd say he's being a little shit.

In the end, that kinda garbage can get on my nerves. I'm fine with fooling around and shitposting and just overall joking around. But when you use crude behavior with the intent to make someone feel uncomfortable, that crosses the line for me.

*Rule 63 being a more fetishized/sexualized form of gender-bending. I obviously won't say anything else because there are kids here. But with this little game idea I had in idea, it was gender-bending like in the anime and such...Non-sexualized, I guess :/.

I'm with you on that one. I had nerdy peers/co-workers who actually verbatim say the same things - if it's any comfort, the reason they're saying is is that they just can't comprehend the greatness that just came out of your mouth/left on a forum. They don't KNOW what to say, and that just comes out in order to save them face for everyone around them (unfortunately, at your expense)
Like, nothing I said was actually ever weird - I just IRL shitposted from time to time and no one seemed to ever get it (our senses of humor were way different - I appreciate shitposts, my friends liked dumb shit like Weird Al Yankovic which is Way Too Scripted for me. tl;dr they enjoy Big Bang Theory/The IT Crowd and I kept asking "but what if Seinfeld was still on today. What if Jery had iPad")

but um

Actually, I think Rule 63 of the Internet is literally just "For any given male character, there is a female version of that character." Like there's no fetishization, it's just...oh. "Someone's bound to draw this character as a woman eventually"
There's even exceptions. Like if the character's so androgynous that the female version would be the exact same (like the main character from Undertale)

or are you merging rule 63 and rule 34 together lmao

Also I'm with Kosh on this one, Rule 63 is Rule 63, and Rule 34 is Rule 34. They're different things, though Rule 63 can be combined with Rule 34.

Let's also not forget that Rule 35 is "If there are no porn pics of something, it will be done soon" and Rule 36 is "No matter what it is, someone has a fetish for it"

There's a guy that I've seen that insists on saying bouquet instead of okay. It just sounds so forced.

Yeah, that does make a lot more sense. Thanks for clearing it up for me! Y'all should be teaching Internet Ethics 101 :U

(Getting on the topic now)

And I just got back from a convention, so I'll say that glomping is something I hope never happens to me. Fortunately, majority of people come up to me when I'm cosplaying and ask to give me a hug and it just warms my heart =w=. Always ask, don't be that person who glomps.
