Question about retexturing

Is there anyway I can simply get textures from Super Mario bros (Wii U), and replace the textures, so the game looks.. "unique". It would be something hilarious to pull off the next time I play with my friends.

It's possible. In model files the textures are in .BRRES files. But in 2D games, I think it's same but not sure.
Can you send me a list of files with directories present in game content ?
