I honestly can't believe Sonic the Arcade Game still hasn't ever been ported or anything.
Like, the Turtles Arcade Game has, The Simpsons Arcade Game has - hell even the Battletoads arcade game has now.
Like yes, I know it uses a track ball. So did Missle Command. I know that they'll always be 'lost' games (mostly because of license reasons, Battletoads Double Dragon, Wacky Races, Bucky O'Hare etc) but Sonic? Like this could have been in the Sonic 'Gems' collection. Stop being crap Sega.
And if you wanted it to be as authentic as possible it could have been on the DS/3DS as a download with the 'track ball' on the bottom screen. People would pay £8 for that (probably more)...

We got more news of the upcoming games
- Sonic Mania is due for release around June, July or August. I don't mind a delay.
- Flying Battery Zone is the next classic zone in Mania.
- The 3D game is called Sonic Forces, and it looks amazing.
- Instrumental theme for Forces was also revealed.

not...entirely pleased with sonic forces based on the off-screen footage just uploaded today.
tbh, i expected a completely different engine, and not the hedgehog engine. but i guess they have lots of faith because of how successful generations was. which is good i suppose.
sonic mania definitely sounds more interesting to me. i love me them 2d graphics.

'Looks Amazing' say whaaaaaaa?
It looks like... well... like 3D Sonic. Like I don't know, I mean what else can they do with this type of game?
Honestly, I bet it gets 6 or 7/10. Telling you now. Also Switch version (if it happens) will have something missing the other versions have and/or some extra pointless crap no one cares about (like some crappy joycons each multiplayer thing). I have seen the future and know this to be true.

well, they can only hope it's as successful as the PS3 Unleashed/Generations and Wii Colors. which it probably will be.
what i'd like to see in a sonic game one day is a more action-based engine that isn't the typical racecar engine. i would love a game like muramasa or dragon ball advanced adventure, where you get to explore areas, traverse quickly through stages, and engage in hand-to-hand/weapon-based combat. if they somehow merged the speed aspect with a beatemup engine, that would be my favorite sonic game. it would be something new and interesting.
and yeah, they likely tried that with shadow with hedgehog, but imo that game doesn't really count as it was 100% pandering to an overly-specific audience, rather than actually trying something new.

They also tried that with Sonic Boom
So honestly I don't blame them going back to Generations-style gameplay

And kind of Unleashed. And maybe that black knight one whatever it was called...
Yeah...

My dream Sonic game isn't really a Sonic game in the traditional sense... I'd want something kind of like Sonic Heroes mixed with... say, MUA, that goes out of its way to demonstrate each character's unique abilities without making them all fast. Something that actually builds on the stories of this universe and puts that superhero vibe back into it.

Here's the in-game footage.
A city in a Green Hill Zone-type area. Don't think they've tried that combination before in the main games.
Loving the new Badniks, and the giant Egg-Robots. (Hello future sprite project )

Sonic Forces have pretty good graphics ! But for my "taste", it's a little too much apocalyptic.
But I liked Colors and Generations, so maybe I will like this also.

This is the exact kind of ideas which lead to so many crap Sonic games...

it's not that they were bad ideas, but it's that the gamedevs could have executed them better. they could reutilize what they used to make sonic battle and add more neat gimmicks to it. an actual sonic beatemup that isn't overly-flawed for trivial reasons (like being rushed towards the release date) would be really fun.
it was revealed that there will be three playable characters, so i'm assuming the third would be another form of sonic. i will just dream that it's toei animation's sonic from CD. :p

It's probably either Boom Sonic or Dreamcast Sonic.
I'd like to see Boom Sonic as a beat-em-up done right (talkin' about the Boom game here - I actually liked the Werehog's combat in Unleashed).

As much as I would love it to be Adventures Sonic, I think Boom Sonic brings the most to the table because of how very different he is from the other Sonics.

I doubt they would even use Boom Sonic, given how bad the games were. Especially with Rise of Lyric being the worst of them all.
Anyway some new Mania art was uploaded.
Looks like the Hard-Boiled Heavies are going to be themed after something. Besides the cop, we can make out some of the other silhouettes.
A ninja, a magician or ringmaster. The one wearing a cape appears to be the ring-leader. And one carrying a flail (Likely a knight or barbarian)
Cover art. Let's hope we do get physical releases on the way. (There was teasing of the Switch version getting one before)
