Ripping "World of Guns: Disassembly"
#1
I have a paid "Full Access" account of World of Guns: Gun Disassembly on Steam (which means I can access all the guns in there).

What's attractive about it is that the guns are very accurate and their internal structure is completely modelled unlike other models out there

I want to be able to rip all the models in there. Can you guys teach me how?

If I can successfully rip it, I will upload it to mega.co.nz for you guys to enjoy too! Smile

There are over 100 guns in this game!

--------INFO 1--------
The game is built using the Unity3D engine. There are multiple .assets, .assets.resS and .resource files. I tried various extraction tools, but it doesn't seem to contain any gun models. But note this is my first attempt of ripping game models, so I may be wrong

--------INFO 2--------
I tried an experiment. I made a duplicate of the game's directory. Then I launched the game from the original directory

I opened a gun that I never accessed before, and the download screen appears like usual, downloading the new gun.

Then I closed the game and compared the two directories, but nothing changed except the log file.

So where did the game download the gun models into?

After further research, it seems the gun models are stored using the Unity Web Player cache files. Anyone know how to crack those open? I heard some success stories about it

The offline PC version on the other hand, called Gun Disassembly 2, stores the gun model using .ivy files.

So which one do you guys think is easier to rip?

Well unity3d files are more"user friendly to extract, and you can get the full model, about ivy format it should be probably encrypted, so another option is to ripp the models using ninja ripper which is another easy way to obtain the models, but you need a bit of patient to rip the models. Anyway u should have no problems with each cases. ( u can even ripp unity3d models with ninja rippee with almost 100% success, but then u have to "assemble" the full model)

About the unity3d files: In most of the cases the game store the files somewhere offline, maybe temporarily in the temp files or in some hidden folded inside Document and settings/user/...etc. To convert the assets it's not a great problem, well it depends by the unity3d engine versione used in the game.

Yeah I found the cache files, but it's formatless. It's just plainly named "_data"
@Annex
The guns are not stored in the .assets files. The .assets only contains music, sfx, icon, etc.

You should take a look at the _data files because in some cases the unity3d games store the 3d models in "no-named archieves like "_data" (like some android games), the untiy studio tool by Chipicao on xentax should be able to open those files as assets:

PS: remember to test the tool  with the folder option (because some models may be splitted in some files).

Unity Studio gives out .bytes files in the end. Can't get any meshes from it.

I tried using 3DVIA Screenshot, and it worked but it did not rip the textures for some reasons, only the mesh Sad

This Russian user seems to successfully ripped the gun using 3D Ripper DX instead. But I could not get it to work Sad

Can anyone help me?

What about ninja ripper with the texture option?, did u try all the option in the tools u used?
You may try the second method to ripp with ninja ripper, (generally used for the webgl models),
