Hi! I'm relatively new to Sound Ripping, but I wanted the Sound Effects from Star Fox Assault for a project I'm working on and since I couldn't find them anywhere online, I figured that ,since I have the ISO on my computer, I might as well just rip the sounds myself.
So I opened up Dolphin, right clicked the rom, went to properties and clicked on the Filesystem tab where I found all of the games files.
The first folder I found that caught my interest was "BGM" as I figured it stood for "Background Music" so I opened it up and found all of the files were in the format of ".DSP", So from there I found a .dsp to .wav converter (right on these forums actually) and converted the audio to .wav, and what do you know, all of the music sounded perfect!
I got the impression from this that doing the same with the Sound Effects would be just as easy. I figured they would be located in a folder named something like "SFX", I didn't find that but I did find a folder titled "SE" Which still worked as an abbreviation for "Sound Effects".
So (I've said so a lot in this thread haven't I?) I opened the file to instead find various file types, none of which were .dsp, the file types included .c3d, .cbd and .chd, with three versions of each file all in those three file types. Despite this, I tried to convert 1 file of each type, just incase they were sound effects (after all this is my first time doing this sort of thing and I'm still not sure what to do) but, the converter couldn't open or convert any of them, so I figured that this couldn't be the folder with the Sound Effects in it, so I kept digging through the files but none of the folders or files seemed to be what I was looking for.
The rest of the files are .bin, .nut, .pacĀ .mot, .efb, .fpc, .rel or .dat, and I'm really not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for.
Now that I've described my problem, I was wondering if I could possible get some help or maybe even just pointers on something I might be doing wrong.
Thanks.
