Meet the Robinsons (.DBL FILE)?
#1
Question
Trying to rip only handful of files from the Meet the Robinsons game, but all of the model files in the game use a format I can't find any information on. I've never seen any other game that I've ripped from that uses this kind of file. Any programs I've found that use a .DBL format don't seem to be downloadable or are extremely sketchy looking. Anyone have any help on how I can go about converting these model files to readable format?

Not even sure this file is what I'm looking for, but I want to include some kind of an example.

I know this post is almost 4 years old at this point, but I'm currently trying to do the same (alongside mod the game with custom models) and I managed to find a piece of software on a speedrunning server for the game that is able to view and open DBL files, it was sent by a developer of the game.. currently it can only view a single model that's included with it (a monkey character who I am uncertain about the origin of), I tried opening the game's DBL files with it but I am only met with an error message, but I feel like with the right help and people we could finally crack the code to this thing.

Here's the link (it is password protected, the password is: lifesucks)

Hopefully this is some (albeit very late) help..

That's interesting... there's even a PS2 version of this included. I don't have the right decomp skills for this, but definitely following closely...
applecuckoo - ripper of sounds, sprites and models

Places to get help:
DYKG/VG Resource Discord - This is where most of the ripping experts on the VG Resource hang out these days, so you should probably start here. Any requests to rip stuff (i.e. "Please rip sounds/models/sprites from game X!") are only allowed here as per the rules.

ResHax forum - Another forum that is home to most of the reverse engineers who were on the old ZenHax and XenTax forums. A great place to get help for any mysterious files. I'm also there under the same username.

And remember, always upload example files. That way, people don't have to dig in and fetch them for you.
