Hello!
Here are all the Sprites i posted on Gamejolt (Keep in mind that i only wanted to show them for constructive feedback and suggestions and that my spriting skills vary. Also, I plan to submit any of them someday.):
Small Mario
Small Luigi What do you think?
Pretty good sprites.
But here's some things that I see that I thought I'd point out:
Mario:
- I'd put some pixels under the feet when he lifts his feet or jumps off the ground. When he's standing on the ground, it's fine to not have pixels under his feet, but when he lifts his feet off the ground, it kind of looks strange
- His hair on the Big Mario sprites and the Small Mario sprites looks a little bit long, maybe you can trim his hair back a pixel or two. The climbing sprite's hair looks fine, though.
Luigi:
- Same for what I've said for Mario
Goomba, Koopa Troopa, Piranha Plant:
- For Koopa Troopa, I'd put some shell markings like he does in other sprites, and to give them more detail.
- For Piranha Plant, I'd add an outline on his teeth that don't have a pixel beside or above them. (If you don't know what I mean by this, I can show you an example if you want)
Items and Blocks:
- I'd add a line on top of the block that appears in Super Mario World.
- Maybe add a skull on the Poison Mushroom to make it look different than a Super Mushroom or a 1UP Mushroom
- The cloud could use some work, try using the cloud in this tileset as a reference. (it was as good as I could find)
Other than that, these are very nice sprites! The Warp Pipes are colorful, Goomba, Big Goomba, and Paragoomba look good, Sidestepper looks pretty goodf, and I like that you gave Luigi a different set of sprites instead of making him a recolor of Mario.
If you can't handle the heat.
You can't handle the Neutron Style.

Dogtoon64, i made various cloud blocks that looks closer to the ones found in Super Mario World:
also, i did a version of a piranha plant that has no outline for its teeth:
but i'm not going to improve the Mario brothers, and the Koopa Troopa for the following reasons: - The spikey hair of the Mario brothers was an artistic choice due to how the Mario brothers hair was depicted in Super Smash Bros (64) in game.
- The feet of the Mario brothers when they lift their feet or jump off the ground look fine to me.
- The Shell on the Koopa Troopa having no Shell markings was also a artistic choice.
Heck, even made Pixelart of Mario's head that i posted on gamejolt:

Made sprites of multiple Poison Mushrooms, multiple Super Stars and made a sprite-sheet containing a unchanged Goomba, a unchanged Koopa Troopa, this Pirahna Plant and a better looking bob-omb:
I also made something to show off my spriting skills from 2018 to nowadays (the leftmost ones are made in 2018 while the rightmost ones are made nowadays):

I feel like you are on the right track by making these from scratch.
However where I'm concerned is that the animations might be a bit choppy when you apply them into gif form for most of your sprites. They also feel that some of them might actually be flat or pillowed on some of the sprites and that can pose to be a problem later on if you are not careful.
I do think that the latter mario sheet feels stronger in terms of animation if you apply them to gif form but be VERY careful about detailing the sprites before animating them. This is where you would probably benefit from using a program to help you physically animate this and actually see how these look in motion. If you don't have something like photoshop to work with the timeline feature I am certain that you could find a program to help you put these together in an animation.

I also made icons for my custom Mario spritesheet and my custom Luigi spritesheet if they were submitted to TSR:

Making a walking animation for Wario in my upcoming Wario spritesheet:
Notice that in some frames, Wario's arms are missing.

It looks pretty good so far. Just needs arms, that's all I can say, which you probably already know.
Anyways, I forgot to reply to the comment you made about Mario and Luigi's hair design, here's my comment: I looked up Mario and Luigi's designs for SSB, and you're right, they're hair is kind of long in that game. I can now see what you were getting at now.
EDIT: Also, good job improving the cloud!
If you can't handle the heat.
