Toei sonic-styled sprite?

Does this look like a good genesis-styled Toei Sonic sprite? It's an edited version of sonic's sprite from CD.

Let me tell you something, Sonic doesn't look like his Toei style that much. It still looks decent though. You really need to study the art style more, first of all, this is a simple edit of the Sonic 1/CD here, you need to edit more so it doesn't look like the sprite your basing it from. (Best of all try to make it from scratch if possible)

Toei Sonic has these features:

• His socks are larger
  
• The spikes are simplified, shifted slightly upwards compared to his game design.
  
• The shoes need to be slightly bigger and more round at the tips
  
• Eyes need more of an "anime" style and smaller.
  
• You got the nose right, so no further speaking is necessary
  
• His glove cuffs are larger and round.
  
• Needs to have his trademark smirk (Optional)
  
• Finally, the ear from the right of his head needs to be slighlty taller and shaded properly.
  

I'm going to give you a reference sprite that I made from scratch (Sonic's head drawn in stages below for proof)
that is a Toei "look-a-like" in a Sega 32X style. Bear in mind it is a WIP, but it would be finished eventually.
(I'm not trying to promote my work in your thread, I'm just giving you some ideas and suggestions to improve.)

Thanks for telling me! I'll try and improve the sprite based off of the criticisms you gave, they were really helpful. Actually, I tried to improve it a bit (mostly on the face and shoes) a little bit. I can agree with you that there's still a lot of stuff i need to fix.

Thanks for telling me, I may try to redraw the sprite later on. I've been busy with school so I'll try to find some time to improve Sonic.
