Help ripping from .apk Android game
#1
Hey guys, I'd love to rip the original sprites from a game called Kansen x Shojo (感染×少女) but I have no idea what software I would need.

This is the .apk.

It's only 80MB while the game is around 3GB on my phone, so I guess I would need to download any android emulator like Nox or Bluestacks, install the .apk and update it to get all the files inside, and then I have no idea what I should do next, like how do I extract the images and which tools to use.

Hope I can get some information and advice, thank you!

.apk files can be opened with WinRAR, though if what you'll find inside will be useful is another thing entirely. Also chances are that the actual game files are on a separate, larger .obb file that the game downloads once installed.

Thanks for the answer! And yeah I have to install that 80MB file, then the game should download the rest which is around 3GB, that's the size it has in the device I play it.

I've tried to do this with Bluestacks and other emulators, but all of them save the files on a .vhd and similar formats, I've tried to mount on Windows and use Iperion but can't get anything from them besides plently of empty folders.

So I think the easiest to get the original game files would be to directly get them from my devices (a Galaxy S10+ and Samsung TabS2) neither of the two are rooted, is there any file manager on windows I can use to get the files from my devices? I can see the app folders but all of them are empty.

Thanks for the answers. Most of the folders are empty, others like Azur Lane are like 2GB when the game is actually over 7GB on the most recent update. I can see folders that state clearly what's in them, like backgrounds, characters, etc. But they're a few KBs extensionless files, when each character .png should be several MB.

I've found this, and I'm wondering what the top answer by Yojimbo does, like, would that convert any game I want to an .apk with all the files inside that I could unzip and get the .png directly? I'm not really sure what these steps are for.

Also don't know how to execute them, like if you just plug the phone to the PC via USB and insert these commands in windows prompt.

You can just rename the .apk file to a .zip file. (As a .apk file is basically similar to a .zip file, but it's for android apps to be installed)
And then you can easily check out the files. (Some games are Unity Games so you may need AssetStudio to get the models, but usually there are in the obb)

On Android 11 and above, the obb and data folders could be locked, so if they're completely empty then reply to this and I'll help you out

I have a Amazon Fire tablet that runs Android 5.1, and I can access the obb and data folders

Install Genymotion or any good rated emulator then locate its data within emulator, then open any image editing software like adobe photoshop (pre 2017 version) then sprite from desired game's image file as you want.
