Help ripping Monster Hunter mobile game assets
#1
Hi. Just posting here in case anybody can offer some advice since I'm running out of ideas. By no means an experienced ripper, I'm learning as I go. The game is Monster Hunter Riders and it's being shut down in a few months and I want to salvage the sprites of the characters from the game before then.

I've taken the .apk of the game, and turned it into a .zip. I've located what I believe to be the assets but they're split file types. From my understanding there are unity assets that have been split up. I read in an old thread to use the program HXD to join the files together into one to get the assets out of them. So I did that, (I think,) and then I also read to use Unity Studio to then view the assets from the conjoined file. Sadly, when I open up the file in Studio it displays no assets. I don't know where I'm going wrong, so I was hoping somebody could maybe offer a tip, maybe I should try a different program, a different method, etc. Here's a picture of what I'm working with.

Huge thanks for anyone who might be able to give some advice.

Maybe you can try opening the files with the latest version of AssetStudio? It's the same thing as Unity Studio but with a different name.
If you can't handle the heat.
You can't handle the Neutron Style.

Well unfortunately, I'm back with a new issue. Since my original post I've managed to discover+rip every sprite and texture in the game except for the ones I'm looking for (character portraits & icons.)

The only place left I can't get into are these Sprite Atlas files, which from my understanding are spritesheets that have been created in unity. When I export them using Asset Studio, they come out as .dat files. From what I understand, .dat files are the worst because they could be just about anything. But in my case, I know that since these are sprite atlases, they should be image files, right?

I'm at a loss here. Does anyone know any way I could possibly take these sprite atlas .dat files and convert them into image format? I'm completely out of ideas so this is my last resort. Thanks to anyone who might be able to suggest something. Once again imgs below of what I'm working with.

Are you sure the sprites you're looking for aren't stored in "Sprite" or "Texture2D" files? I don't think they're stored in the "SpriteAtlas" files (although, I could be wrong, LOL).

I've definitely combed through all the Sprite and Texture2D files and there's a notable large chunk of assets that I can't find - but I trust your gut more than mine on the Sprite Atlas thing. I'll give another big look through all the files when I'm home later. Thanks so much for your reply once againSmile

May I ask how you extracted/transfered the files from that game? I'm also interested in preserving the models. If you're willing to share the files you have in zip format, that'd be amazing! Good luck with everything, your work towards preserving this game is greatly appreciated!!
Thank you!
