Before We can begin, we need to ask ourselves: is this OK? There's a sitewide ban on content on Gigaleak sprites, but these resources were given to us by John Romero himself, technically making it an official release. What should we do?

I think it's safe to submit these. Because as you said, John Romero made this stuff public as part of Doom's 25 anniversary and the modding community have been using them since.
ID Software and Bethesda didn't have a problem with it either, otherwise they would've sent a C&D to Romero the moment he did.

Oh, cool. Next on the docket, where can I find the sprites in a format that doesn't look like this?
