Super Mario Run assets
#1
We don't have many assets ripped from Super Mario Run, and that's because most files are stored in a folder on your phone that can only be accessed with root.

I was hoping that someone here with a rooted Android device would be willing to dump the data from this game (or explain to me how to do it). Someday, Nintendo will shut down this game.

We do have many assets for Mario Kart Tour. Not everything is on the Models Resource but all character and stage models and animations are out there on the web. I guess that game has a much more active fan community. Anyway, I highly doubt Super Mario Run has higher security measures against ripping files than Mario Kart Tour.

Thanks!  Smile

You'll have to source your own .APK of the game, I unfortunately cannot tell you how.

Once you have your .APK, you can extract it using 7zip. As this is a Unity game, you can use AssetStudio to extract various models. Feel free to reply with any questions!

I believe you do need a rooted (Android) device, because loading the APK file into AssetStudio only provides me the few 3D model files we already have on the Models Resource. Mario, Yoshi, Bowser and the Koopa Clown. But no others like Peach, Daisy or Luigi.

For Mario Kart Tour I believe I've also been told before that the APK wasn't enough. You need what Nintendo downloads to your phone apart from that in that "locked folder".

Though let me know if you were somehow able to find and rip the other character models from the APK.

I don't actually have an Android device, so I've done digging and come across a possible of fuly extracting the .APK. With Bluestacks, it's possible to extract an app/game straight to your computer. I'll give it a shot now and will send an update in a bit.

I'll also try this with Mario Kart Tour.

Best way so far is just getting models from cache, meaning at least at one point they have to have been on screen and you didn't clean cache/delete the app. Mario run doesn't have *too* much stuff so should be relatively easy to unlock everything, I know i did years ago. mario kart tour is complicated because it has tons of costumes and tracks and items...with online matches and tours you can get most outfits to show thanks to other players, a datamining discord server for mario kart tour also might be able to provide most if not all model, except tracks cause those kinda need to be assembled

Thanks for that info! If you wouldn’t mind sending it here or maybe shoot me or KingYoshi a PM on how to exactly get the models from the memory/cache, that would be great.

Before I got here with my question, I asked a couple of people who did datamining for Mario Kart Tour in a Discord server named after the game for help, but unfortunately they couldn't bring up the time or simply weren't interested. A few people's reponses said that you'd probably need a rooted Android device, as well as a magisk feature to bypass Google's SafeNet check or else the game may not boot anymore. Then you can access a hidden cache folder.

I have no personal experience with this, and my phone isn't rooted either, but this is the information I have gotten.

Also, yea, if you could DM me or post the instructions here, that'd be great.

you just need to grab your phone (i am using an android phone) and copy the mario run folder from the internal storage to your pc, should be named com.nintendo.zara, once you copied the entire folder you just open AssetStudio and load everything, export accordingly as you would with common unity models. Ripping from cache, of course, means you need to have at least once at any point (without uninstalling the game) whatever you want to extract on screen, if after all these years you still haven't seen all playable chars just playing online should be fine too.

Thanks for the explanation! But unfortunately, I don’t have an Android phone. Is it only possible to access the cache for Super Mario Run and MK Tour from a real phone? Or is there some other method?

How do you mean a "real" phone? Do you consider an iPhone more real than an Android one?  Cute

What I meant by real was by actually having a physical Android device that can dump the .APK along with the cached files. As far as I was aware, it was only possible with a "real" Android. I don't think it's possible with an iPhone, or it's maybe hard.

Oh okay. I'm also not sure yet how to dump the cached files. I do have a physical Android phone. But it's weird because several people from the Mario Kart Tour community told me that to access the cache folder it needs to be rooted and with magisk or else the security measures won't let you access and dump it. But Makoto seems to suggest that's not necessary.

Yeah, that’s only the case with Mario Kart Tour. I’m not too sure on how to get cached files from either game. Hopefully someone will reply with the information. Sorry i couldn’t help any further.

you can do it with an emulator too, provided everything has been on screen at least once just like phone but idk how to do that, i've only used my real phone. iPhone could be possible but no clue, never tried. You don't need root or anything to access your android cache, just copy from phone to pc.
