I am re-organizing my rips from the defunct mobile game Murderous Fairy Tale.  (有殺氣童話) I've noticed this unusual texture that is paired with the character textures. Anybody have an idea what this is used for? I assume it affects the shade of the model?

to me it looks like frames for some sort of "shining" animation, what exactly for I don't know

I think I figured out what that shine is used on. The coin on one of the top buttons has a shine animation. As seen in the beginning of this video.
