Ripping sprite animations from official websites
#1
I want to rip and sheet a character animation from the official website for the Thousand-Year Door remake. I've seen some supplemental materials from the web ripped and submitted under a separate "game" on the site before, so would that be acceptable here? And if I can, would fact that the website is for an upcoming game be an issue for rips from the website?

This one?

What exactly do you want to submit from there?
If I'm not mistaken, there's only a bunch of promotional screenshots and videos, but not materials.

Nah the Japanese site. It has an idle and running Mario animation.

This one then:

I did this for another game before, collecting promotional material from website sources and putting them on a sheet.
I submitted the website stuff to the same game branch as the other ingame materials under the "Miscellaneous" section.

Personally, I don't see a problem here as long as it is properly labeled.

Well if it would just go under the regular game page then that would have to wait until the game comes out.

I can’t comment on the source of the rips as I’m not sure off-hand how we’ve handled submissions like that in the past (though it looks like they’ve been okay?) but yes, even if the assets are available now, they can’t be approved until after the game releases.

So basically the official website can't count as a separate game that is currently available?

Since the website isn't a game (no interaction with the user) and this kind of promotional material is affiliated with the game itself, I would wait until it releases.
