Cars (GameCube)

I hear people say a lot of good things about this game and I still just don't get why. Its story is a mess, the less saturated color palette is ugly (on every version that's not the Wii, I mean), the controls are clunky, and the physics are god-awful.

These weigh down a game that I could enjoy a lot more if these could be touched on. There are a lot of good ideas, the hub world is great to look around in. I want to like the game but

It's really sad to think a literal minigame doesn't control as bad as the main gameplay, but the Tractor Tipping is actually bearable compared to the horrendous physics I've gone through.

I will say I love the way the models look, it's why I submitted them to the Models Resource after all. The Wii version looks better though.

Cars: Mater-National Championship (PC/PS2/Wii)

It feels basically the same as the first game, but also not really.

There's some added content such as new modes and Minigames, and they feel a lot better than the first game. I could be wrong but the physics feel a lot better in my opinion. Not perfect, it still has it's moments, but it's much more bearable.

It basically may as well have been an expansion pack for the first game, and I don't mean that in bad way. There's even a big modding scene for this game specifically (mainly on PC). I haven't experienced any of that myself but I can see myself having fun. There's more times where you play as a monster truck, and those sections are terrible. There was one level in the story mode in the first Cars game, it wasn't great but at least the track was more straightforward as opposed to driving in the hub worlds with some checkpoints.

I actually like this one the most of all Rainbow/Incinerator Cars games, though it still doesn't compare to the Cars 2 game. I also want to mention I played the Wii version in one of my Discord servers on a stream with a friend watching, and clipped Mike Wazowski upside down into the ground.

Cars Race-O-Rama (Wii/Xbox 360)

I've been back and forward on whether I like this game or not.

I first played it on Wii to unlock everything for when I was ripping the models (this was before I decided to look into the files)
I had a good time with the story mode but didn't take much liking to the minigames.

I then got a copy for the Xbox 360 so I could enjoy the game more without all the motion controls and with added achievements. I started hating it for many reasons, the physics were awful (still better than Cars 1), the cutscenes are nonsensical, the Mater’s Tall Tales minigames suck, the monster truck races were even worse than the previous two games, and the Guido Kart races are the ACTUAL worst parts of the game. The physics are at the absolute worst when playing as Guido, there's been times where he can't turn, and times where he clips out of the map.

But after replaying it again, the physics actually feel much better than the previous games and the AI opponents aren't immune to them either. The Guido Kart races are the worst but they're a small part of the game compared. If I got this game back in 2009 at the age of 6 I would have liked it, though there's other games I would have liked playing as well.

Not a terrible game, takes away a few things from the previous games but improves greatly on what stayed, story isn't great but it doesn't hinder the experience.
