Texture placement data in files?
#1
I was looking at the models for Star Fox Adventures (Gamecube) and was very pleased to find a substantial list of locations.  The preview image shows these full put together (although not with lighting.)
But when I downloaded the files, while they do contain the geometry and the textures, the .obj file for the geometry doesn't have any distinction for multiple texture/materials.  I have tried this with multiple programs, but none of them allow me to apply multiple textures to the model.
Yet this is what is show in the preview thumbnail; a model with multiple textures applied to it.

Now I'm not extensively experienced with 3D modelling, but every time I've looked at an obj file I've never seen multiple material slots on a file.  I had thought the format itself doesn't support it.
But the thumbnail shows a properly textured model.

What am I missing here?  Is there some data that I'm just not accessing properly?  How would I separate the different texture slots?  What program do I need to do this?  How do I know what surface gets what texture?
