Ripping Tomb Raider Underworld (PS2 or Wii)

Hello, everyone!

I'm trying to rip the 3D models and textures from the levels of Tomb Raider: Underworld (PS2 or Wii version) for study purposes and possibly a reconstruction project in Unity. My goal is to extract full environments, including both the 3D models and their textures.

Can you guide me in this process?   Smile

Has anyone worked with Tomb Raider: Underworld or similar PS2/Wii games and managed to successfully rip the models?

If you're determined to use the console version, your best bet would be the Wii version using the Dolphin emulator. Find a copy of the Wii .iso or rip your own, load it into Dolphin, and then the first portion of this video will be helpful to you because it's a lot of info to parse here. This will allow you to extract the game files, but after that you'll need to be able to open them in something like Blender, or Noesis, and there are as many game file types as there are people in this world so.

A quick Google for how to rip models from UW is giving me tools for the PC version, not console. There's this YouTube video that could be useful; it focuses on Anni, but from my understanding Anni, Legend, and UW all run on the same engine? There's also this tool on the XNALara forums (XNALara being a 3D posing software) that makes mention of extracting environment meshes.

Honestly it sounds as if the PC version would be your best bet, but if for whatever reason you can't do that/get hold of the files, you might want to try looking into NinjaRipper for use with Dolphin. It's tedious and can be complicated, but it'll get you meshes if you can't get into the file types extracted by Dolphin.
