Creating Thumbnails for Model Submissions

Hi, 

does anyone know of any tips for taking the thumbnail and preview images of models? 

I have some models I'd like to submit but I don't know how to get the lighting and transparency for the previews. I'm working in Blender if that helps.

Any help would be appreciated!
