How to rip backgrounds?

I'm ripping sprites from the Toy Story version of Sega, And I'd like to cut out the background, but I don't know how to do it, I know there's a "Plane explorer" for that, but I need to rip it, please, help me

I'm using an SNES emulator which has a tilemap viewer, not sure if the Genesis has such a thing too.

If there's really nothing else, you can deactivate layers within your emulator and capture the bg this way, either with a build-in capture function (if your emulator has it) or an external tool.
