Hello everyone! I've been working a bit with a character whom I posted a while back. I wanted to put it up for commentary/critique, because I'm still trying to find actions that would be fitting for her.
I decided to call her "Rio" I always liked that name.
Edit:
I've started to make the game from scratch, so I made a thread in fan games
I call it: "
Digital Memory: X"
Edit:
I re-vamped her run cycle
C+C?

It looks decent for me (I've never played those Megaman games, so I can't tell if it's an edit). Finish the mugshot if it's a WIP, because it looks kinda flat right now.
EDIT: Fun fact: 'Rio' in Portuguese means "river".

i guess rio also means river in latin, since i guess magnifica is magnific inlatin too.
Sorry for my mistakes on english, people..... I am Brazilian, and to worsen that... i learnt english playing Final Fantasy and asking my mother.
EDIT: Now, 4 years have passed, and I`m an english teacher.

"Río" latin, spanish, portuguese, etc. For river xD.
I lol'd at how much Diogaluse Gigahmeh fails. Really. And little smiley too:

You are all correct: Rio = River in all of the latin based languages.
Also, yes the frame's bottom is from Metroid Fusion, edited, but still from MF
The portraits I don't feel will ever stop being a WIP. The reason the top 3 look flat are because they are only in the same color scheme as the 16 bit character. The "Bullshit 32-bit" at the bottom and the last portrait aren't as good as I'd hoped. I'd love some suggestions on how to eliminate that problem.
And to many people's suprize, she's not an edit! The only thing I did that could make it close to editing, is using the multitude of Megaman X, Megaman Zero and Megaman ZX sprites as inspiration / examples. I wanted to get an image of a post MMX / pre MMZ series feel. For that's where the game is supposed to be set. Although I will confess, Doc Nolting is an edit. Can you guess what character from what game?

Bingo, the POWs
anyone have any ideas on certain actions that they'd like to see? Perhaps I'll use them in my game at some point. And for the love of god, I cannot figure out how to work with slopes in GML without using "x +=" instead of hspeed...

The x + = method should be used with all platform related things anyway.
GML, MMF and TGF2 all have ass "default" platform events.
I like the style anyway, defiantly looks like something between X and Zero. Strangely reminds me of the Mega Drive (Genesis for a few strange people) for some reason I can't think of.
She really needs some sprites for when she lands though.
And of course if this is going to be like MM she needs the whole wall slide sprites.

she has them, however they're split apart on the sheet:
mid-low left, is when she's crouching or just hit the ground from higher
top-center have the 2 other frames into her standing.
However, the x += code is still alien to me to a degree. How do I bring her to a halt if I have a button for dash? hspeed = 0 wouldn't work, and if I set a timer for it to use the "xspeed" to 0, she continues moving. I really wish I had taken more programming classes. I swear I'm missing something incredibly simple.
