Is it actually worth buying? Or could I just rent it for a week and be done with it?

Does it have a cool story ????
The story is way better that I expected, considering the clusterfuck of violence.
You'll easily finish the game in 3-6 hours, but there's a lot of replay value in the game and you can do DeathWatch Challenges with a second player. The bosses are really fucking cool and original, and the announcers are hella funny, although it's hard to hear them over all the ownage. But you can easily fix that with the Sound Options. Gameplay itself is rock-solid, and the controls, while taking a little bit to completely adjust to, are solid. The only time I ever had a problem with the controls is against Death Blade, but I easily got over it. When you beat the game, you unlock more weapons and you unlock the Hard Mode, which... really is fucking hard. I found myself dying in the tutorial level. The tutorial level. Sooo I'll be playing Normal for a little while longer. The black-and-white scheme for the game works really well. There isn't a single moment where you'll find yourself wondering what's happening. Plus, it's just really really fucking stylish. Overall, I'd probably give this game a 9. It would definitely be a lot better with more multiplayer elements though. I recommend you buy it, or at LEAST rent it and see if you like it. I can definitely see this becoming a classic Wii title, just like No More Heroes. Oh, and the motorcycle levels are fucking gay. But luckily there's only two of them in the whole game.
3-6 hours, renting it is.
Sounds really cool, though I've heard nothing but bad things about the announcers. Most complaining about the repetition. Also giving a game a score after you've just played it is a bit dumb, I mean a lot of games seem "awesome" when you first get them but a few weeks later may just become "ok"

Did the AI get better from the what we saw in the videos?

The AI gets MUCH better in the later levels, and in Hard Mode it will whoop your ass.
As for the announcers, they say funny, witty things depending on what's happening but they tend to repeat themselves a lot, especially if you're doing the same kill repeatedly. It doesn't really hinder the game at all in my opinion. (03-12-2009, 03:40 PM)Osiris Wrote: The AI gets MUCH better in the later levels, and in Hard Mode it will whoop your ass. "That's a little girl in a man's suit!" "If that was me I'd be shitting my pants before and after I died!" "When you die you crap your pants anyway!" I really didn't get much time to play this game but that tutorial level (which yeah, I DIDN'T GET TO FINISH >:[) makes this game seem extraordinarily awesome. I also like the soundtrack as well. i find myself wanting to play this game only when no one's home because of all the violence/obscenities/etc. awesome game though no doubt. The only thing I DON'T LIKE is that the tutorial level tries to cram too many instructions in at once and you're overwhelmed at first. While I'm punching the shit out of a guy, XIII's already telling me how to jump, use my chainsaw, and do an uppercut in less than a minute's time. And with all these motions you feel like you're not getting it at first. tire + signpost gouge + rose bed = best kill ever this game is like tom and jerry, if jerry was jacked and an ex-marine
