I think you're misunderstanding him. You could make prerendered sprites, but the process is time consuming and you'd have to have the models rigged as well and have their animations if you wanted to do this. You'd be better off making sprites from scratch.

Google. Most 3d games have had pixelart and sprites made for them at sometime or another, but there aren't many full sheets for sprites from 3d games.

This goes with what Rakia said. These sprites could be used as bases if you wanted to make a full sheet for them, but you'd need to get permission from their artist's first. It would also be nice if you gave an idea of what size you want the sprites to be and what style you want the sprites to be in. (e.g. Super Mario World, Metroid, etc.)
