Not sure about how grey the darkest two shades are. I could be mistaken but it looks like with most of the rest, the darker shades are more saturated, and then suddenly you've got grey. Kinda... jarring?
Unless you're working with a limited palette here, idk :E

I think the grey works pretty well, it's more of a stylish choice rather than a "practical" one. [please don't quote me on this i am very tired and have not slept yet] I've been experimenting with the same technique as well, actually.

Yeah, style choice. And it shows as a more desaturated blue on my monitor.
