Game?
BUMPITY BUMP BUMP!
Not to bring up SSF2 again...
But one thing I didn't like about it was how some levels used to have their backgrounds and foregrounds stuck together, so the whole level felt like one page. Are we gonna have our backgrounds and foregrounds separate? Maybe even animate them if possible?

Parallaxing would be great. I'm sure Runouw could do it. But again, this game is pretty low on their list of priorities, too. Last Legacy is going to be their primary concern until it's completed and released.

Parallax would be pretty easy to implement. We just need to make sure the background are split into separate images.

And don't worry, smash bros is still a high priority of mine.

Also, about what someone said earlier about a Newgrounds release. Perhaps we should plan for one soon? It would give me more motivation of what exactly to work on.

A newgrounds release can rack tons of fame, but will also rack in tons of noobs, ignorant suggestors, and blatant idiots (Which we all hate). I mean, its newgrounds of course.
Though, its everyone's descision, not mine.

But moreover, it gets the game out to the biggest audience possible. There are a whole ton of professionals out there too, and Newgrounds is pretty much THE site for fangames. Hell, that's where Super Mario Crossover was originally hosted, and Runouw's game Super Mario 63 now has somewhere around 2.8 million views there.

So it's agreed then? We go down to Newgrounds?

The influx, brings back some memories of good forums gone bad.

Anyway, I think that they would all be going to Runouw's forum instead. I think that they should advertise over there that we need help from TALENTED/relativity experienced spriters and show some examples of what we desire.

Yeah, but Runouws website isn't as well known as N00bgrounds. plus we are looking for a wider audience. Sure, we could advertise on Runouw's forum, but I think that more than just good spriters would like to play the game. I mean, think of all the hours we will spend (and have already spent) on this project, just to be seen by a few people.

I know that this is most likely what you are working on, but here is a couple of this to take note runouw.

The knockback and hitstun- more often that not it seems as thogh hitstun is about the same as a jab at all percentages, they just get knocked away furthur. This needs to be tweaked so that feels closer to melee's hitstun and knock back system, since that game actually allowed combos and they were fun to pull off.

Take note of balancing gooey, i posted it in the Gooey topic.

A BIG reason most Super Smash Bros. fan-games are terrible is because of bad camera handling. Most fan-gamers just make it so that the camera just focuses on the characters alone, and doesn't give much view distance on where the players want to go or where they're facing.

Just posting this video because I'm in favor of Melee's camera AI style.
It may be tough and aggravating to program/achieve, but would this be possible to do Runouw?

Yeah, I think melee's camera would be pretty easy to imitate. All it really does is anticipate where the player is going. So if you are looking in a certain direction or moving, the camera can move forwards too.

Should the camera also notice and react to items too?
I always found it annoying in Melee on Hyrule Temple when CPU players chased after a pokeball that appeared OFF the camera where it's impossible to see.

Yes, please Smile

EDIT: well, only to certain items. Dont do that for things like food and whatever

The camera is the biggest thing that irks me about SSB fangames. It's always too loose and jerky. If we can master that we'll be halfway there.
