because that's what he knows how to use?

if i didn't know how to use a gun and i knew how to use a spear, i would use the spear and not have to worry about the following;

missing a shot 3 feet away and shooting myself in the face
not turning the safety on when i'm not using the gun and shooting myself in the knee
not knowing how to reload and getting screwed over because of it
not knowing how to fix a jammed gun
dropping my gun after firing one shot because i didn't expect the recoil

I'm just saying that there's a lot of advanced tech, but some people still use swords, spears, etc. Like the boats and trains in Zelda. But FF is more advanced.
