Well, it's an improvement. Keep at it, anyway.

You really think so? Thanks for the kind words. Any new comments on the new mushroom?

Well, I'm not really an art teacher. You should consider taking art classes. It's really important to nail things like shading and perspective early on.
I think in this case you might have looked too closely at the example I gave. Don't focus too much on the details. I just meant adding a more three-dimensional quality in this respect: but like the title of this thread says, keep practicing and you'll be fine. Thanked by: Mabelma

I'm going to start taking art classes in January. I don't really know what you are trying to show there. Is is the shadow or the lines?

Notice in your pic it's just a line around the edge of the mushroom ---- wheras in reality it would be a mass, so something more like ==== would be appropriate. Just as when drawing a pipe, you wouldn't just draw a line. Thanked by: Mabelma

i think you should focus less on values and more on lighting
i mean you're doing these gradients that don't really define the object look at that head. it is literally a normal drawing with a horizontal gradient applied to it. on the mushroom, the spots on it need some shading too, yes? i applaud your hard work. (:

Long Time no See guys, but I'm back and better than ever. Let me post some new pieces I've been working on. Hope you like.Comments are always appreciated.
Last Mushrooms I did Pose Test Dad N' Me simple animation Dad N' Me DA ID 2010 XiX Latest logo Christmas Shirt Design Sketch Christmas Shirt Design Colored/Inked Diablo The Jaguar Comission Latest Animation Test: XiX Dance WireFrame Jump Latest Drawings: Sitting Xix Chibi Xix ============ Wow That's a lot of stuff you haven't seen. Hope you like it. Links: Website Blog Shop ============ I got some other things I want to show you but I need to upload them so you'll have to wait for that but for now hope you like those things.
STRUCTURE.
Also DRAWING FROM REFERENCE. Before you draw someone sitting, look up loads of drawings of people sitting. Do shittons of sketches based on the photos. Look at how peoples weight is distributed and how their legs are foreshortened. Seriously, if something's new to you and you're having difficulty with it, keep drawing it until you are The Master at that thing. Be it sitting poses, or hands, or whatever-the-fuck. Identify your weaknesses and obliterate them. You are making progress, which is pretty cool, but you are definitely taking the soft option in a lot of your drawings. Push yourself all the time.

Hey guys so I sketched this out yesterday and it looks good enough to be inked and colored but I though I might try something different so I though of coloring differently maybe like this or something like that but I have no clue on how to do that. I think he used photoshop for that and I looked around on google for a while but I didn't find exactly what I wanted so if you could help me out that would be greatly appreaciated. Do you have any tips on how to do that? What should I search on google to get some better results? Critics on the image? Also the image is based of the popular game Castle Crashers for XBL by The Behemoth. The art in the game was created by the amazing Dan Paladin. Here's the character I based mine off. I know it's a big jump on style but I didn't want to just copy I wanted to be more original. Hope you like and that you can help me.
He's suppose to be sad for some kind of reason, I might draw a few skulls of his friends on the floor with some blood splatters later and maybe that will be why he will be sad or something like that. The image I'm using for color reference does not belong to be it was made by Jouste and it's on my photobucket because I'm using as my Desktop BG and it was easier to upload it there than to look for it again. |
