the pipe still looks too......round. It needs to be angular, with sharp edges. The rim is also much larger than that in the picture

Is this what you meant, Baegal? If you were talking about the bottom, I think the bottom needs to be round like that, since that's the way it is in the picture.

To me, it looks like there's a metal lining around the bottom of the pipes that just gets cut off; it doesn't look real rounded to me. I personally like the rounded bottoms on the sprite, but if you want to submit these, it'd be best to make it look as close to the model as possible.
Also, see that tailpipe on the back of the kart? Try adding that to the sprite.

the pipe itself is not "round", its a simple combination of two cilinders with a flat base. it may look round in the reference but thats because its in another perspective.
the shading on that 3D model, the shading on the SMW pipe and the shading you are using in your sprite also are the same, and thats wrong since those are three completely diferent light sources. while your sprites are suposed to have a a light source on the top right corner, the light source on the 3D model come from the viewer, and the SMW pipe doesn't really sport a light source(its a rather functional shading to remark its cilindrical shape). my edit is far from perfect, but it should give you an idea on how the light should affect the shapes in the kart.(and other issues related on the kart's shape and scale)

I couldn't get the metal lining down, but I got the tailpipes. Is that Alright? I also made it flat at the bottom, like in the picture.

IMO, showing that there's two tailpipes looks really strange. You only show two wheels (one in the back, one in the front), so it's almost like the tailpipes are on top of each other. If you make it one pixel less wide, and straighten out the pipe (you have it bending up towards the end; this isn't really necessary), it should look good.

I straightened it out and made it a pixel less wide. I also changed the top of the pipe because of the whole Side-view thing.

Make the tailpipe one pixel thicker, and it should be just about perfect.

I think it's good to go.

Holy shit you work fast.
I think you should do the unicycle kart next, with the basket as the seat. :o

Sorry I took so long
I'll add the exclamation point after I get feedback on the shape and shading.

This is definitely a good start. I'd suggest making the shading a little bit thicker than it is right now; try to keep it as rounded as you have it now, though. There also needs to be some more of the kart visible under the metal band. The base of the kart also seems to be a little too jagged, so try making it a little smoother. (This should be easier to do when you add more of the kart under the metal band.) I also think the lip of the kart is just a bit too deep.

I like this start. I can barely see any shading on the kart, though, and the little yellow bit connecting to the wheel looks like it's pillow-shaded. Maybe you could try to make an animation for this kart where it kind of balances back and forth, like the kart is in the picture?
