New Super Mario Bros. 2
I liked the robots a lot in that game, and really that's not hard to imagine. Bowser Jr was using robots and stuff like that in Super Mario Galaxy, so it's not that far-fetched. I'd be on board to that idea.

Or how about fighting the koopalings like you did in super mario world, where almost every boss fight differed from each other.

fuck the wands. I want my boss fights to be somewhat varied...

But the Koopalings in Super Mario World had like, only 4 variations of the same fight. That's not much and kinda lazy.

I wish Nintendo did more Yoshi's Island-style bosses, like a giant Boo and stuff. I think they did that for the original New Super Mario Bros, I vaguely remember.

Well in Super Mario World I could forgive it due to perhaps constraints of time or limitations to the knowledge of the system's capabilities due to it being early in its lifecycle. If they did something like in SMW, but varied EVERY fight, that would be amazing. In fact, they could still do something like that. Even though they showed Roy with the wand, in the Wii game they were fought in the classic style as mini-bosses, but then fought with different gimmicks as regular bosses.

Yeah the original New Super Mario Bros. had the most varied bosses. It was also the last time we fought Petey Piranha.

Hey remember Petey Piranha? Wouldn't mind seeing him again actually.
Yeah, actually. It's kind of weird how for a while he was EVERYWHERE and now he's just sort of disappeared.

thnen basically he felt into the limbo of "never going to be reused characters" nintendo has been using lately.

Well, he's a costume on Mario Tennis Open.

That's something.

As the bosses in NSMB died with like 2 bottom stomps/ground pounds I have no idea what they actually do.

I always got a Mega Mushroom in the inventory before doing the castle then whipped it out during the boss battle and beat them by walking around Tongue Beating them as Mini-Mario (to get into worlds 4 and 7) was a challenge though.
You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing that we call "failure" is not the falling down, but the staying down. -Mary Pickford

i dont recall one being able to use those on boss battles.

Mario bosses have always been disappointingly easy. I kinda want bosses to not be harder but to change up their strategy while fighting them.

Larry comes out with his wand and spinning shell so you stomp on him three times, now he's pissed! He jumps into a mini tank and shoots Bob-ombs at you so throw the Bob-ombs back at him three times, you win!

Kind of like that. Halfway through the battle they change what you have to do.
